If anyone has any info on a step by step website of how they are making these cars faster that would be great. The sites that were provided in previous posts dont really show too much.

Isn't going to happen. I've got an 06 SS/SC for a daily driver, it runs okay but even with 600hp to the wheels you aren't going to beat a new Z06 in a drag race. Sure with slicks, a slammed suspension, super stout clutch, aftermarket axles and a good track surface you might give him a run for his money but with a true daily driven Cobalt you'll never outrun a 505hp Corvette.
Personally I'd ditch the M62 compressor and switch over to a turbo kit with a real intercooler. Cometic makes a head gasket and GM makes all the flanges and an intake for a turbo. Switch over to some better rods and pistons, have a good shop do some port work to the head and get the cams reground. Throw in some bigger injectors and go to town until the transmission breaks.

You know there is an old gearhead saying that applies here perfectly:
"Don't race your ride car and don't ride your race car"
It is agreed, you can make your Cobalt a 450+ HP car, but that totally defeats the purpose of it being a daily driver: getting good gas mileage and being reliable.
Furthermore, even if you beat a Vette, it is still a Cobalt and your car will still look like the same car fathers buy for their 16 year old daughters to 90% of the population.
