Default Best and cheapest place in DFW for LS1 shortblock rebuild?

I'm looking for a place near the DFW area that rebuilds shortblocks. So far I've only gone to one place and they are asking $2950 minus whatever for the core I can trade them out for. Anyone know of shops in the area that will do it for cheaper AND still be a trustworthy place to go? THANKS!

Where so you live? I know two places that are pretty good. Wayne Clavert's in Denton and Xtreme Engines in Flower Mound.

Both of those would be a reasonable distance. You know how much they would want? I live in Hurst.

Automotive Machine and Supply west of downtown Ft. Worth does excellent work and are reasonably priced. Call Steve ... he drops by from time to time and has a really nice anniversary edition SS.

Painter Machine is in Euless, I believe and builds a very reliable motor and I've seen some very reasonable pricing. I have an LT1 for my road race car I need to deliver there.

Definitely will be looking to start by later this month on a rebuild of the car. When do you think you will have it out by?
