Default Texas guys and gals, I need some help.

Im considering moving away from South Dakota with a buddy from HS and I need some help. Im thinking Houston, hes thinking Dallas. What are some good neighbor hoods for apartments in both cities? Also are there good jobs in the area, Im in the IT field(thinking about going to school for legal filed) and hes a Fire fighter in the Air National guard.

Just any advice that you have about either cities would be great.

i think unemployment is non existent in Houston right now, and IT is not the exception. The oil companies(Chevron, Exxon-Mobil,BP) are hiring lots of IT professionals(MIS people)

the woodlands is also a good spot, north of houston. anadarko(oil company) has a big buildign there as well. i dont know if they are looking for people in IT. but houston has tons of opportunities for that sort of a job. lots of different firefighter jobs here too..

houston was SO humid when I was there.

My vote is for DFW area. (Dallas fort worth)

DFW has the least fat *** people <than Houston>. (not by much... go to a Walmart in either place you'll get sucked in by their own gravity)

EDIT: above poster is correct, stay away from High schools and colleges---the ghetto surrounds them.

North Houston, Woodlands, Kingwood, Conroe(Mongomery County) All not bad places, Conroe is cheaper than both of the "woods", just depends on budget i guess, i have gotten to calll Houston the ghetto and Conroe home.

If it's between houston, dallas, and san antonio, Houston would be the best choice. Better job opportunities here and there are lots of nice suburbs of houston (woodlands, sugarland, pearland, friendswood to name a few). If you had your choice of city in TX I would personally pick Austin by miles!

Houston has more law schools to pick from: STCL, UH, TSU - . Dallas has SMU and Fort Worth has Texas Weslayan. I would recommend a move based on what school you actually get into first.

I see you're from Brookings. I went to SDSU and graduated a couple years ago. Houston is okay, just be prepared for the heat and the humidity. Where are you from originally up there?

If you move to the DFW area I would recommend a suburb like Arlington or Mansfield or if you want closer to Dallas then Plano or one of those surrounding areas. And not sure about the whole ghetto thing around HS or colleges, it depends on where you live. I live right next to a high school and a college and its actually suburbia hell with a nonexistent crime rate.
