Default Thinking about moving to Texas

I currently live in San Diego, CA and wanted to move somewhere more affortable. I've narrowed my selection down to either Tampa FL or Texas.

If I were to lean more towards Texas what would be a nice family orriented area to consider? My buddy has mentioned a few places to me such as, Saginaw, South lake Carol, Hasselt. What do you guys think?

what industry do you work in? What size town/city? You like it hot or really hot or so hot and humid your nuts melt to your leg? How about tornadoes? or snow in the winter?

I have a lot of experience doing office clerical work. I would like to live somewhere away from the danger of Tornados.

I don't mind warm weather as long as my nuts don't melt off

We get tornadoes in Waco, not sure about Dallas-Fort Worth. Austin is just weird and Houston is the most powerful city in the world. Pretty much any city or larger town will have plenty of job openings for you.

Houston has the Texas Medical Center and several other healthcare providers and they are pretty much always hiring.

I live in Arlington which is close to South Lake. Its South Lake by the way, South Lake Carroll is the High School in South Lake. Its a very rich community. A lot of the Texas Rangers and a few Cowboys live in that area. Nate Newton has a house over there as well as Michael Young and a few others. If you dont make good money the housing is pretty hard to find. I dont know much about Saginaw except that its nice with good schools. If I were you though and you were wanting some place thats got very little crime small town feel and close to Ft. Worth great night life, or Dallas a lot of area attractions I would choose Mansfield. Its just outside of Arlington in between Dallas and Ft. Worth. Its close enough to get where you need to as far as work and anything else you want, but far enough away so that its not a hassle. Good people, friendly and nice. Good housing and very affordable. Thats my .02. The one negative, theres always the threat of bad weather no matter where you go. This is TEXAS not San Diego. If you go to Houston you have tropical storms or hurricanes. If you come up further north then you get the threat of tornadoes. I personally would choose the DFW area. Good luck.

You got money for Southlake??? That place ain't cheap, my parents own a modest 4 bedroom house on 1/2 acre and they bought it at $350,000. 2800 Sqft and pay like $7,000/year in property tax..

San Diego is about an hour or so south of LA. So Im pretty sure he has seen his fare share of messicans.

But do got say, San Diego is pricey, pretty much all of California. Sure is nice there though.

Thumbs up

Mid Cities Area in between Dallas & Fort Worth,
i live in Bedford very nice area, can get between both the cities easily.
Arlingtion is just south about 5 miles, i believe colleyville is a very nice place to live just 1 mile north of me as well,

i haved lived in the DFW, and Houston, Houston is a total nightmare,
anyone that says Houston is great has very been outside of Houston.
to many different minortiy nebr... hoods, to much traffic, too much crime,
bums verywhere, i have seen the "1960" chicks/(bums) off addicts and humble nasty area, only place nice is conroe and woodlands, and then traffic so bad there.
I have been to CA, HA,AL, WA, TX, OK, Nebra..., KA, SD, ND, MI, WO, FL,NY,NH,MA,Vermount, Mass..., and i would have to say TEXAS is the best
also i believe were the only state that has LONE STAR Budlight, Texas edition TRUCKs and so on.
i have been to flordia countless times, fishing, showcase soccer tourments, vacations... great place to go and have fun, bad place to live. cost of living is high compareable to Cali...

TEXAS ALL THE WAY

DFW, 2 huge cities, tons of little area cities, even more to do.
