Saturday evening there is a pretty decent car show at FM 620/I-35. Runs about 6:00-9:00.
The late night stuff has either gone away (North side) or looks like the rejects from a Fast and Furious casting call (South side).
Sunday there is no regular event, but sometimes there are specific carshows at specific sponsors. I mean like the once/twice a year stuff like at Hooters, Pep Boys, Rudy's, etc.

Although it can be amusing to watch some of the ricers and their dumbshit antics, but it gets old pretty quickly.

There is a cruise planned for this weekend here in Austin going San Marcos via the Devil's Backbone, have lunch in San Marcos (at a Logan's Roadhouse), then a mass enterance at the Y in Oak Hill that evening. The Y is the only decent meet in south Austin and it normally is a meet every Saturday evening from about 5:30pm until 9pm-ish.
We have f-bodies coming from DFW and SA planning on attending the cruise. The direct link to the topic on AFBforums.com is below as well as the cruise info:
http://www.afbforums.com/forum/index...st=15&start=15
The tentative plan is to meet up at the Academy parking lot where I-35 and William Cannon meet up... the Academy is in the southwest quadrant and is visible from the freeway... there are gas stations in the area so anyone that needs fuel will be able to choose from Exxon, Texaco, Valero and Shell stations that are in the area.
meet up time: 12:00pm
departure time: 1:00pm-1:30pm (depending on when the folks from SA and DFW get into town)
cruise directions: west on William Cannon to Congress, right on Congress to go north to Ben White Blvd (Hwy71/US290), west on Ben White Blvd. until the highway dead ends in Oak Hill, then continue west on US290 until we get to Hwy 12 (also called Ranch Road 12), left on RR12 and that will be the road that we take all the way into San Marcos... RR12 between Wimberley and San Marcos is the Devil's Backbone
this cruise should take us about an hour and a half to complete... maybe a bit longer, depending on whether or not we get stuck behing Farmer Brown on his 1975 John Deere tractor on one of the backroads... as this will not be a Gumball Rally, we'll just deal with that situation as it comes up... I'll be there to call the Logan's Roadhouse in San Marcos when we get a better head count on Saturday.
there is a chance of rain for Saturday... some folks have already made some reservations with hotels, so I will leave it to them as to whether or not this is a rain or shine event... again, though, this is not a Gumball Rally event, so it can be held in rain or shine as long as there isn't some torrential downpour coming our way.
