Default New Laws????

Saw this on another site but didn't state if it was local or statewide and couldn't find nothing about it any where, anyone heard of these changes?

Starting July 07..

1. Carpool lane - 1st time $1068.50 starting 7/1/07 (The $271 posted
on the highway is old). Don't do it again because 2nd time is going to be
double. 3rd time triple, and 4th time license suspended.

2. Incorrect lane change - $380. Don't cross the lane on solid lines or intersections.

3. Block intersection - $485

4. Driving on the shoulder - $450

5. Cell phone use in the construction zone. - Double fine as of 07/01/07.
Cell phone use must be "hands free" while driving.

6. Passengers over 18 not in their seatbelts - both passengers and drivers get tickets .

7. Speeders can only drive 3 miles above the limit.

8. DUI = JAIL (Stays on your driving record for 10 years!)

9. As of 07/01/07 cell phone use must be "hands free" while driving.
Ticket is $285. They will be looking for this like crazy - easy money for police department.

The cell phone law is BS.

What's next?

You can't eat in the car!

You can't change the radio station in the car!

You can't change the CD in the CD player in the car!

There are a myriad of things that can cause poor or reckless driving - driver notwithstanding. Instead of putting stipulations on those things, how about just ticket the poor driving.

Gosh, this is the first I have heard of the cell phone must be hands free. Is this all the time or just in construction zones? Hell, this is TEXAS, not California, what the hell is going on!!!!!!

We definitely need to confirm these changes, I did a basic Google search and didn't find anything so far.

nice edit shackle......

An arguement such as the one you trying to use is garbage. I do not have time to say anything else on the subject. Talking on a phone while driving IS dangerous, and anyone who thinks it is not, is just ignorant, IMHO

You missed my point, too. A lot of other things can be "dangerous," such as eating, changing the radio station, changing the CD, etc. Many people can do such things without incident.

since when was it ever legal to drive 'above' the limit anyways? They just couldn't ticket you 5mph above based on radar guns' error range. At least, that's what I though anyways.

Since America is technically ruled by the people, I'd to see them actually ask us about this kind of BS before they make it a law. **** suckers!!!...nothing more than another tax to make the government richer!

Yeah, I'd like to see something "official" too.

I am in favor of the cell phone thing. I swear, everytime some ******* cuts me off or is going much slower than the flow of traffic, or just doing something stupid, they're on a freakin' cell-phone!!!

Shack, you are correct, there are many other "dangerous" things that people could be doing in their car, but talking on a cell-phone is something that is continuous and usually occupies the use of at least one hand, not to mention the driver's constant attention. Really, if your conversation is that damn important, pull over and give it your full attention. Don't endanger your life and the life of others because you can't figure out what to have for dinner.

Good laws, although the 3 over the limit is pretty gay. Officers are all different but you can often get away with 5 over very easily.

Also, I don't know how true this is. I'd love to see some links and hard evidence!

Studies have proven that ANY cell phone use (either hands free of holding the phone) causes traffic accidents. The point is that your distracted.

This is the case for a "passenger" in the car. The "passenger" can give warning to an impotent jerk that's being an ***.

Cell phone use should be banned for BOTH ways. Just because your on hands free you are badly distracted, I've performed this test myself, I find myself not paying as MUCH attention in EITHER respect.

you can not equal a 10 minute phone call to changing the radio station (less than a 2 second operation). Change CD's take a BIT longer, but not a 10 minute phone call.

We should make a list of what we've seen people do while driving (no gender noted )

1. Putting on mascara while driving 75 MPH.
2. Shaving
3. BRUSHING your teeth
4. Eating a cup of soup that is in the cup holder
5. Reading the newspaper sprawled across the steering wheel
6. Ready a book
7. Reading Directions to a location

I'm sure there's more that I will think of later....

Yelling at their kids in the back seat, while on the cell (no hands on the steering wheel and turned completely around) she almost sideswiped the ta with the f**king minivan.
