Thumbs down Should I do this to a so called friend

About 5 weeks ago my friend got pulled over for a DWI went to jail for refusing to blow and I one the other hand passed the breathalizer and they let me go with his truck. His g/f and uncle both asked me if I needed money to bail him out(450 $) but since I've known this piece of **** since I was a kid I assumed it wouldn't be a problem paying me back. Here we are in July and he tells me he's not going to pay because of **** I had nothing to do with. His truck got punched on Christmas night and since it was an acquaintance of mine I arranged payment for the damages but he never came w/ his truck to collect(250 in damages). Also he said he injured his thumb that night the guy punched his truck and has 300 in physical therapy bills. Then he brings up a set of old golf clubs that aren't even his that I borrowed and still have and that he doesn't have to pay me back. The piece of **** doesn't even golf. I'll probably just take him to small claims court as much as I'd really like to kick the **** out of him or ask his dad since this piece of **** never has any money. All this so his *** wouldnt sit in jail all weekend and me just being a good friend. I'm done here

Depends on how bad you want to be friends. My group of best friends (about 5) watched my friend throw all his money away on a stripper.... while he was on probation. So he wasnt paying his **** and o he went to jail. One of my friends let him borrow $2000 ($1000 for his mom for the bail and another $1000 for a lawyer) and has yet to see a dime.. and this was about a year ago. We have all just come to accept the fact that he will never see that $2K again. But the guy is one of our closest friends, and we would do anything to help him (or any in or group).

So, how good of a friend was he before all this **** went down. He is more than likely pissed that he went to jail and you didnt. So you gotta decide the rest on this one.

I hate it when you let people borrow money and instead of paying you back. They just try to find reasons why they shouldnt pay you back. Ridiculous.
Hope it all gets worked out.

When a friend asks to borrow $$$, you need to decide which one you need the most because you are most likely going to lose one of them in the process. I'm big on responsiblity and accountability and have little tolerance for being ripped off.

I say go with Nineballs option and then scratch the guy off your list of friends.

Good luck man!

I would take him to court and get your money back. Any person that does that to you isn't a friend.

I assumed he would've done the same for me but most of yall are right. A friend wouldnt do that to another friend. He never asked me to bail him out but his dad works at valero and makes around the 130-170K and has got his son out of financial binds his entire life. My next action before legal action is to email his dad. I hope I dont see the sack of **** out one night when I've had a few because I will give him a 450$ *** whooping. THat would make me feel better than draggin his sorry *** to court even if I got paid or not. Only problem when suing a broke *** is that well you probably wont get paid in the end.

You people are crazy. I would hate to be one of your friends and get in a bind, cuz then I would be fucked (and I am someone that pays people back as soon as humanly possible).

Was he your best friend or what? You say that you have known him since you were kids, and you trusted him enough to drive your *** when he was drunk. I would do ANYTHING for my friends and ask for nothing in return. Would it be nice to have $450 back? **** yea, but its only money. I forgave a $300 debt to one of my best friends because the friendship was worth more than that.

And if his dad makes 170K/year, what the **** did he need your $450 for?

Tip in life, NEVER expect to get paid back for bailing a friend out of jail... they have other things that they are going to consider priority, like lawyers and ****. That way you are not angry when you dont see your cash, just disappointed.

Or you could just give him back the golf clubs, and get that $250 from whoever punched his truck, and then ask for your money.
