Which radar detector?
I tried using search but nothing useful came up really. so here it is, I am wanting a new radar detector and need to figure out which is the better.
I am wanting a good one for the price, the valentine seems to be really good but $400? and the 8500 x50 is good but compared to the valentine I am not sure.

I have the 9500i and it works great. When I bought mine from Best Buy I told them I was going to wait for another 12% off rewardzone coupon and they automatically did the deal without the coupon. I ended up paying $395 and it is well worth it..Just my .02

Either or. I have the V1 (for 5 years now) and the only tickets I have gotten have been cops with Laser. You can get either and still get busted with laser.... so it really is up to you. People also think you cant program a V1... which is untrue.

I am currently using the Escort, and the V1 is sitting on the shelf at home.

I've had both. I sold my V1 after a few months because the 8500 just worked a little better. Those directional arrows don't mean anything to me, I slow down whenever the radar goes crazy anyways. Even without the arrows of a V1, you can tell what direction the cops are just based on how long the signal stays on and grows/shrinks in level. If you are picking up radar that stays the same signal strength for over a mile, you know he is behind you and moving with traffic for example. If it just gets stronger the further you drive, you know he is in front of you.
On Power Tour this year, our buddies "Wild Thing" and his Dad had the V1 and we had the 8500. Our radar consistently picked up alerts a good mile ahead of the V1. This happened several times. That is exactly how my previous V1 compared to the 8500.

I just happened to get a dud 8500. It works awesome when it isn't throwing codes. Really weird. Mine seems to be the only one that does it. Don't let that stop you from getting it.. Just not sure why I was lucky enough to get their one defected one haha

yea the V1 is winning in the poll right now but I think I'll pick up a 8500 x50. it costs less performs nearly the same on a lot of reviews I have seen, and I can pick it up at like best buy rather than placing an internet order and waiting.
thanks for all the input guys, without you my life decisions would never be made and I would be sitting in a dark corner in my house right now crying....
