Don't Ever Get a MIP in Hayes County...
I went to float the river in San Marcos with some friends a few weekends ago the day before my birthday, two of us ended up getting a MIP from three game wardens who obviously have nothing better to do. So I went to court yesterday and saw Judge Prado. This was my first alcohol related offense and ticket of any kind so I was expecting maybe a small break... Not a chance in hell, $400 fine, 8 hours of community service, alcohol awareness class and then the bitch suspended my license for 30 days which was completely her choice since it was my first offense. Even after talking with her and letting her know I live alone and have to drive to school, work, fighting and normal errands like buying food etc...she said well that is too bad you can apply for an occupational license or figure out rides everywhere.
Seriously there is no need to suspend someones license for a MIP that was given while FLOATING A RIVER and not anywhere close to driving a car...just ******** in positions of power... What goes around comes around so hopefully her day will come very soon and hopefully it will be a horrible day...sorry just had to rant.
Edit: Forgot to say she when I asked about Deferred Adjudication? she said she didn't offer it...

There's how to get one. I'd get crackin' on it.

thats really not that bad of a punishment. It cracks me up when people are underage, go drinking at a public place, get in trouble, and then talk bad about the people who punished them. A buddy of mine got an MIP, first offense, and he got 20hrs community service, 90 days license suspension, and i think about $1200 in fines. That was in Colorado County.

Ls1 - Damn that really sucks
I know you have to take responsibility for your actions, I have no problem with everything else but I just don't see the reason for a suspended license because of a MIP... Oh well only less than a year left and it won't matter anymore.

That sucks, but it's a college town and I'm sure she has to deal with hundreds of cases just like yours and has heard everything in the book. You gotta be smart on the river nowadays. They really started taking a hard line on underage drinking a while back unfortunately.

yea college towns suck for that kinda stuff. In college station I watched a few people get arrested for public intoxication outside of a bar when they were waiting for car pool to take them home. They made the right choice to not drive and then they get punished for it. They were a little loud but hell it is a street full of bars. (car pool is a student organization at A&M where you get a free ride home so you dont drink and drive- for those of you who might not know). You will almost always get the maximum penalty in a college town.
I found that out the hard way

I had never floated the river so I was just going where my friends had decided. I think it was the SM river not sure, but we went to some private property called Dons and paid to float. Since cops can't go on private property we thought we had outsmarted them but the second time floating about halfway down there were three game wardens standing in the river saying come over here... I just thought ah damn I'm not getting out of this one even though I tried to use the fact that it was the day before my birthday haha.

Sucks to hear, but a few of my friends got mips a couple years back on various river trips. I don't remember the fines being that severe, but it's somethign that is totally avoidable. Don't drink on the river if you are underage. You will turn 21 your junior year and have plenty of time to booze away your senior year.

We were on the river two weekends ago, I didn't see them give any body any tickets or even ask for IDs. We were in New Braunsfels though, I heard certain parts the cops patrol more and ID. I'm 23 now but when I was under age I knew enough people over the age we would just drink at their houses so it was never really a big deal if I couldn't drink else where.
