Default Computer Help

Our old computer quit working a while back after a thunderstorm, and I'm trying to find out how to get all the information off of it, like pictures, etc. Is this something I can do myself? If not, is there anyone who can help me with it? There are a TON of pictures on it that I really want off of it.

you just have to take out the drive and put it in another system. Hopefully though it wasnt the drive that went physically bad.

This is something you can do but need to feel comfortable doing. I would be more then happy to help out if you lived in the Houston area.

I'm guessing you can't get it to turn on. If so, then you'll need to pull the hard drive and hook it up to another computer to get the info off of it. Since you say it's your "old" computer, I'm guessing it has an IDE connection, so you'll probably need to find an "older" computer to get the info from the drive, or invest some money in a cable to hook the drive up to your newer computer. In fact, if your other computer has a slot on its motherboard for an IDE connection, then you could probably just use the existing cable from the "old" computer and hook up the old drive to your new computer permanently. That's if the drive isn't screwed up.

Or, it could just be the power supply. If so, you can get a new one for the old computer, replace it, and have use of your old computer again.

Hope that wasn't too confusing.

Well, when I got me a new computer, almost a year ago, It was all SATA. I had to go buy an IDE card just to get all 80+ gigs of my music.
