I know it doesn't mean much Matt, but I feel your pain. I hope you keep those memories close as I have of the pets I've lost.

I'm so sorry to hear this about your beloved Molli. I know how hard it is to have to do this. I went through the exact same thing back in 2001. Jag, our chow chow, we had to put down. I loved that dog dearly. He was 17 years old. Like you said, one of, if not the hardest day of my life.

My prayers are with you and your family.

Sorry to hear about your dog Molli. I can imagine how hard it would be to do that. I have a male chocolate lab that is going to be 3 yrs. in Feb. and I had him since the day he turned 6 weeks old. Ever since then, I been hanging around with him every day and I'm just used to having him around me all the time. Once again, sorry about your dog.

Losing a dog is tough thing to get over, they really do become part of your family. It's too bad that dogs do not have a longer lifetime, but some scumbag humans can live too long.

RIP Molli.

Although I'm not particularly religious, I still like this Rudyard Kipling poem:

A Dog for Jesus

I wish someone had given Jesus a dog
As loyal and loving as mine
To sleep by His manger and gaze in His eyes
And adore Him for being divine.

As our Lord grew to manhood His faithful dog
Would have followed Him all through the day
While He preached to the crowds and made the sick well
And knelt in the garden to pray.

It is sad to remember that Christ went away
To face death alone and apart
With no tender dog following close behind
To comfort its Master's Heart.

And when Jesus rose on that Easter morn
How happy He would have been
As His dog kissed His hands and barked its delight
For The One who died for all men.

Well, the Lord has a dog now, I just sent Him mine
the old pal so dear to me
And I smile through my tears on this first day alone
Knowing they're in eternity.

Day after day, the whole day through
Wherever my road inclined
Four feet said, "I am coming with you!"
And trotted along behind.

Sorry for your loss man. That brought a couple tears to my eyes while reading it and thinking about my dog. She is 12 now and has a skin disorder. My dad has taken her to the vet numerous times to try to fix it but its like she has a sore everywhere. She has recently started losing a lot of weight even though she still eats a lot. I know the day is coming but my dad and I cant seem to bring ourselves to doing it. My mom has suggested numerous times that we do it but I get defensive and tell her that her mom is in just as bad as shape and no one is putting her down.

Its a tough decision with someone or something that you love and have loved for so long especially when the pet is as big of a family member as anyone else.

Today is a new day and it's still hard thinking about yesterday, but it will get easier as time goes on. None of us will ever forget the memories of our dogs when they're gone. Y'all have truly helped me with all of your kind comments. Thank you very much!
