Default My stealthsub stopped working...any ideas?

I was just cruising the other day... And I noticed that my sub stopped working. It moves a little, but not much. I never really listened to it loud, so I wouldnt think that it would have blown.... The amp still lights up IIR. Any ideas what it could be?

Take it out of the stealth box and check the coil wires connected to the terminals. Most likely one broke causing it to work ocassionally.

that didnt fix my problem .... I hooked it all back up and put back in the box... the sub sounds so weak that you can barely here it at all trying to move.

Are you positive the wire didn't come back off? Did you check the wires on the sub itself, between the speaker terminal and the cone? Check all of your connections, then check the amp. Make sure it is putting out what it is supposed to. You can hook another speaker up to it or stop by a local shop and have them check it.

push the speaker in and out (gently) a couple of times with your hand, if its rough or sounds scratchy you have a blown voice coil and a blown speaker. other than that i would check your ground wire. if its poorly connected you will get a power signal but when it tries to send a large amount of power through it the amp reads low ground and reduces current. A few of my buddies had that kind of problem after having their systems installed for a while, i ended up just buying another power cable and running the ground from the amp to the negative terminal on the battery. system has worked fine for 3 years now no complaints, just dont get ground and power mixed up lol

depends on what you consider a rattle. Could be blown, could be the way a sub sounds outside of an enclosure. Do you have a home speaker you can haul outside and hook up to your amp? If so, try it. But turn the gain on the amp down and then slowly turn it back up to prevent hurting the home speaker.

buy a sub at walmart and hook it up. you can return it if it does or doesnt work, just tell them you bought the wrong size and want to return it. ORRRRRRRRRRR if they still sell your brand of sub put your old one in the box and return it and tell them it didnt work

a bad connection can cause shorting inside the voice coil (worked in car audio for years) also check the soldering connections on the backside of the sub....smell next to the voice coil, if it smells burnt or "alike" then its time for a new sub....hook ur amp and all connections up properly next time...Most of the time when u "blow a speaker" its from playing at frequencies it can handle (power or lack there of) and quality (such as not correct deminsions on the box, leaks in the box, etc, etc) ...hope this helps but it sounds like its time for a new sub and maybe box too

was u box prefabbed???? was it ported??? if so just buy another sub bc ill bet u cant fix whats already been done to that one...
