A 6 speed F-body will do 144mph stock. Most of the stock C6 Z06s were running 164mph.

Larry Cato (PaiN) ran 180.5mph today in his C6. Pretty cool considering his LS2 is internally stock, with just headers and a D1SC Procharger. An Automatic too. Bet he's happy with the fact that he beat all of the stock Z06s and even a few modded ones and all he had to do was leave it in drive and stab the throttle.

I only saw 1 4th Gen F-Body running. It was a guy from Ft. Worth with an LS7 and a nice front air dam. He ran 176mph when I saw him go. He was claiming his motor made over 700 hp, but I'd have to say his power to the wheels is closer to 500-525 rwhp.

The Texas Mile is very humbling though. It's amazing how much power it takes just to go over 180mph. You need around 575-600 rwhp to break 180. You pretty much need 900-1000 rwhp to exceed 200 mph.

Anyone know what the Project X Diesel did in the standing mile there? It was the fastest for a while I think I was wondering if they did any better this time around.

Did anyone see a white 90's Chevy Pickup with Screamin Semen on the back? If you did do you remember what he ran?

Okay, now that some of you have done this event, what changes do you plan for next time? The most problematic thing I saw on several cars were crappy street tires. I think drag radials or road racing tires would be better. Also several cars were stock height, lowering would have helped for sure.

It sure looked more fun than drag racing, I'll run next time.

I just rolled in from getting things all unloaded. Had a blast at this event! It was great to see alot of old friends, and have some fun running the cars hard.

All I can say is I'm 110% pleased with my runs!

Saturday my first run my car threw a weird code, at the 1/2 mile, and I backed out of it. ( Thanks to Patrick G for having his laptop to check the code out! )

2cnd run was 179.4mph
3rd 178.4 mph
4th run 179.3mph ( cooler outside, but big headwind )

This morning I was late getting to the lanes, so it was already warming up some, but the head wind was minimal, and I popped off my 180mph run.

Not bad for a car that looks/rides/sounds pretty much OEM.

he had a couple of 160's. Really nice guys. They were back in the lanes when I left, I know they were hoping for 180's.

Not sure on the tires with how dusty the track is. I would like to lower mine some.

It was good seeing you again man, and thanks for the help saturday morning.

That 4th gen was next to me. He said he had an bored/stroked LS2 (45-? c.i.) with ETP Ls7 heads/intake. Really nice couple. He ran a 180.2mph this morning.

Just trap speeds only, no times. Honestly, drag racing starts don't help much, neither does aggressive speed shifting. Mostly, it's how much power you can lay down from the 1/4 mile mark to the end of the mile. In other words, traction becomes less important and horsepower to overcome the wind is key.

When I run again in March, I will have lowered ride height, no mirrors and a deep front spoiler. I had none of this when I ran 183 mph last year. Oh yeah, I'll also have LOTS more power.

I love racing the mile though, it's such a BLAST. Much more intoxicating than running the 1/4 mile.

Man, I want to try it sometime. I'm sure your car needs to be in tip top shape to make these runs. How strict is the tech inspection?
