Ya dude that sucks. 917 Is pretty crappy. It's real bad on the east side of 35 too. My gf's mom lives off of 917, you turn there on 1902. I don't usually go past there cause it sucks. I just take 171 from Cleburne. Anyway, sorry to hear about that, You should come to Cleburne sometime and hang out when you get stuff taken care of. Me and a few other fbody guys hang out in the parking lot on the weekends and shoot the ****.

Find out what entity of the beast maintains the road. Call, see their process. If they balk, threaten a lawyer. They have insurance for this stuff. Or if it's a small town, find out how many votes your councilman won the election with, run for the position by getting just enough people to displace him, walk around the neighborhood etc.. weasel the city somehow.
Oh, you can sue government contracted companies, just find a good enough lawyer to see through the red tape and list the gov't entity as a co-plaintiff. That'll get them off their asses. Generally does.

As previously mentioned, you cannot sue the government, or an entity there of, The good news is they wont come out and tell you this, you will just be given the run around, but your insurance will pay some of the out of cost, but unless you have a rider on the policy to cover aftermarket, you will only get stock replacement cost minus your deduction, probally not even worth dealing with.
