Compare apples to apples, you are comparing the largest Toyota V8 option to the smaller GM V8 option. Don't forget there is a 6.0L Vortec Maxx option, as well as the even better 6.2L V8 in the 1/2-ton Denali pickup. and the ESCALADES
Besides, the fact is that very few people ever tow with their trucks. Most people buy trucks for using the bed, and their durability compared to cars. That, and they are safer than cars in a collision. If someone was truly buying a truck to tow with all the time, they'd be dumb to look outside of the diesel group.
