MTV is still around? that channel started sucking ***** the day they took the original Headbanger's Ball off the air. and most of the rest of it still sucked, even back then.
They are ******* idiots. Metal isn't mainstream(real metal never has been mainstream). But the fans are some of the most dedicated, loyal, hardcore people around. Every metalhead would tune in to a metal show on MTV if it featured music videos, interviews, and live performances with real metal bands.(Dragonforce, Mastadon, Dethklok, Kataklysm, Lamb of God, Dying Fetus, Mnemic, Burn the Priest, Pyschostick, Between the Buried, Opeth, Chimaira, Slipknot, Strapping Young Lad, to name a few)
i wouldn't say that just because a metal band is "mainstream" that they're not "real metal". there are plenty of "mainstream" metal bands that kick major ***.....

those are just a few that come to mind, right off the top of my head. all of those were considered "mainstream" in the late 80's and into the 90's, in metal's heyday, but they all still kicked (or still do kick) some major ***.
i know what you mean, though, by the bands you mentioned.....those are the more "hardcore" metal bands, and still considered underground more than mainstream....which i like also.....
just making the point that "mainstream" doesn't mean it's not "real metal"....

yeh, idk i just never thought of slipknot as that good, i always related them to that other band that dressed up all retarded and had like 10 members all the time, but no doubt there are some mainstream bands that kickass, i mean ****, iron maiden made it onto guitar hero, and so did the fall of troy lol
