Someone needs a weed whacker, brush hog, and about 2000 gallons of VHT.

Looks like some fun racing! We have a track down here that opened up a few years back, started out as a runway. At first they had a bootleg set of lights that used to hang over a street at one point. At the other end of the track they had 2 guys in lifeguard chairs who held up flags for whichever side won lol. Now it's got modern stuff and I believe is IHRA certified (or whatever).

I remember in the mid 90's a few guys going out there from Ft. Hood to do some money racing.

I guess it would be nice to have it open back up, but it's still about 2.5 hour drive for me, so no chance that I'd become a regular.

What's with the guys lining the track on the inside of the guard rail? I'm sure Darwin would have something to say.

Flamesuit on since it's probably some of the posters in this thread, but if the owner is looking to open it back up he needs to enforce some safety standards.

I raced there many many times when I was at A&M. It would be nice to see it open again. I would make the trip just to reflect on old memories.

there will be rules inforeced when the track opens for real but that day it was just fun straight up street racing that was legal.....i seriously doubt that on a real race day anyone would be allowed to stand there....

That place does look very bad. I ran there for 2 years while I lived in College Station during school in 01-03, when it was open. It was bad then(looks much worse now), and we always tried to raise money, get other college students and regional racers together to make it happen. We used to have to grab the hose ourselves, get out of our cars, and add a water box ourselves before running on drag radials/slicks.

The key to this track, is racing money through A&M and Blinn. There are not enough local racers to keep this track up. Somebody should offer a work day, then free track pass at night for the local college guys.

That place has a lot of great memories for me. Shoot me a PM the next time you guys head out there, I would love to go make a couple passes.

yes, way to go. Bumping an old thread like this reminds many of us of another track that we would usually not consider. As seen in your link, nobody views that forum and nobody has posted there in a whole year, so the word is not out. Thanks 01Z.

Its really more of a website for the track then a forum. It list the rules and track events.
