Default Navasota Drag Strip - pics included

Well, as of now, it looks as if the Navasota 1/8th mile strip is still looking good for opening up. Our car club from B/CS (Brazos Valley Street Beasts [brazosvalleystreetbeasts.com]) cruised down there last weekend and got in some runs just to show some interest & everyone had a blast!

It was old school 'Pinks' style racing with no time boxes this go around and just going off of the drop of the arms. It was legal street racing basically and it was a blast! If there is enough interest, the track is for sure going to open up again.

If you'd like to see it open back up, show some interest here or join our BVSB Car Club site and post in the Navasota Raceway section. Thanks! -Karl

END of posting pics.... yes its in not the best shape right visually but the track isn't too incredibly bad. its got a lot of potential, but due to location, i think he is wanting to see how much interest there is before putting a lot of money into it

it was a wall for sound deadening/redirection. I think there were houses a ways off on the other side or somthign like that.

did yall just drive there and start racing on the closed track? did the owners open it up for yall?

does not sound like a smart thing to do (for the owner)

yes...read my previous posts. the owner opened it up to see how much interest it would bring and gave us all free runs.

tony, the wall was put there due to the neighbors complaining about the noise years ago and it has just rotted away over time.

your previous post does not say one way or the other. Is it still the same owner as it was in 2000?

not a very smart idea to open it up for yall like that. good way to set yourself up to get screwed.

still very risky I bet. I would not let a group of people run on my race track if I did not have insurance. I am assuming he does not have any since it is not open.

Lol for real that wood looks bad. This is why a couple of us whined about Sealy closing since Baytown is our closest option (not close at all). This is my "hometrack" haha... Believe it or not the track after about 2 hours of running/burnouts and a gallon of VHT began to hook just as well as some of the other tracks I have run at...

Actually the fence was built to help the farmers. True they complained, but it was because the cows wouldnt produce milk for some reason, they thought it was noise related. That place looks really rough. I used to run there years ago. Ironically they used to run pro mod cars there. That track actually had cars that ran in the low 4's on it, I know scary. I remeber one of my neighbors put his outlaw 10.5 car in the pond after hitting the back side of the creek and flipping several times. I remember being out there till 2 or 3 in the morning when the dew was falling watching cars run. It seems like almost everytime I went there at least 1 car was in the wall, the track couldnt handle the power. They used to use roofing tar mixed with 87 octane as track bite, lol. The good old days, lol. Josh

I remember David Nickens talking about taking one of his pro-stock cars out there years ago. He said they only went about half track, shut it down and loaded the car back up in the trailer

I did enjoy many years of racing out there though.

I also remember back when the "Meltdowns" were out there. Goldust standing it up on the back bumper, Tim Fountain, Budget Boys and the Jyd, Yellow bird. I remember when the fsta started running out there. Mike Croix and Kyle Huttel both crossing the finish line sideways facing each other, lol. Track had no hook at all.
