Yeah some radio reception act makes it legal for all citizens to accept every kind of radio frequency.
Now that doesn't mean you won't get hassled if a cop finds it in your car.

If an officer finds a scanner in your car, not only will/could he give you a hard time, but that's an illegal device. You might as well have an open can of beer or marijuana in your car. I know there are officers in this forum, you guys wouldnt mind chiming in and giving your 2 cents would you?
