Default Dodge Cummins question.

Looking to get a 4 dr. short bed 2500 auto trans.
Anyone have one that can tell me what kind of diesel mileage your getting stock, without a chip or tuning? Thanks.

I have a 2007 5.9L with a manual trans. 2500 short bed quad cab. Getting around 15 city and 18 on the highway if I keep it around 70. No mods....still fairly low mileage and continuing to slowly get better mileage.

06 2500 Auto 2wd QC, I got 18-19 around town and 22-23 if all highway. Adding half a quart of 2 cycle oil (ashless only) is good for another .5mpg. Just put a Smarty Jr program in it last week so I'm expecting another 10-15% once I get used to the 100 more hp

It really depends on the driver a lot. All my numbers are hand calculated and I just hit 10k miles.

Get an 06-07 with a 5.9 if you want any chance of economy. The 07s with the 6.7 are down 3-4mpg.

I have an 06 dodge 2500 auto, when it was stock I got about 16 to 18 on the freeway. Now with mods I am getting 20 to 21 at around 70 keeping my foot out of it.

with the newest flash on my 6.7l... 15-16 city and 18 highway with my foot out of it. with my foot in it, emission management kicks in alot more and mileage goes all to hell.

good luck with it. either way... 5.9 or 6.7. its a cummins.. you'll love it. i sold my first fbody for my current truck and never looked back. did have to buy another one though lol.

Well, I was looking into a new '08. It would have the 6.7 in it. I guess it would still be better than my 5.4L f150 getting 12 3/4 mpg.

If you want the best possible fuel economy and need to buy an 07+ diesel then it's going to be a Duramax. They aren't bad trucks by any means. A little ugly in my opinion and way over priced compared to the Dodge but they do seem to have the DPF filter and 07+ emmissions figured out a little better than Dodge and Ford.

I've had an 04 5.9L HO Cummins and then an 06 5.9L Cummins. The 2WD gets about 2 mpg better on average.

04 dually = averaged about 19 mpg hwy, 15 city when stock

06 4x4 = averaged about 17 mpg hwy, 13 city when stock

TST Powermax tuner on both gave me another 1.5 mpg increase. I put a bed cover on the dually and it gave me another 1 mpg avg on the hwy. Exhaust systems (MBRP) on both trucks gave them 1 mpg.

As for the newer 6.7L trucks, they don't get as good mpg as the 5.9 trucks. Damn emissions crap! I'd rather buy a used 5.9 truck. If I were buying brand new, I'd only consider a Duramax at the moment.

My friend's uncle has one. '07 crew cab/short bed 4x4 wth 35" tires and he's trapping like 105 in the quarter mile at 12.9. Here is a video if anyone wants to see it.

07 2500 5.9 QC 4x4 short bed... intake, straight pipe, smarty, 6" lift and 35 BFG KM2s. I avg around 17-18mpg mixed driving (I don't do much city only). On trips I see a hair under 20mpg running usually 80. On stock tires add 2mpg. Oh and it can puff a nice cloud!!

My dads 07.5 2500 6.7 QC shortbed is getting 13-15 city and 17-18 highway.
