Default What do ya'll think so far??

Well I picked up my completely stock 99 Pewter WS6 on March 13 and had about $2K left over to do some mods. This just goes to show that you don't need alot of money to do some things. Here is a quick list of mods I have purchased so far:

Windows tinted
Eibach Prokit
Front Struts Replaced and alignment done
LS6 Intake
Pacesetter LT's (ceramic coated)
Mufflex Y Pipe
Redesigned Comp 918 Valve Springs
Melling High Performance Oil Pump
Comp Cams Chrome-Moly Pushrods
WS6 Short Stick
SLP Lid W/K&N
Skip Shift Eliminator
Auto Meter Shift Light w/ 6000 pill kit

and I still have a little money left over. As you can tell I am trying to set-up for a cam install. I am also planning on purchasing a Timing Chain set and Catback system (a little later). And definitely a Tune. Most of the stuff I have gotten but it is still sitting in the garage, waiting for me to put it on.

I am trying to decide on a cam and need your input:

TR 224
TSP 224R or TSP 228R
Patriot 226

I am leaning a little towards the Patriot 226 just to see what it might do. I know alot of others are big fans of the other two cams, but I want to be a little different.

Here is a pic after the Eibach Prokit:

I dont think so, my black car with a 224 and a Yanks PT4000 with stock manifolds ran 11.92. They make good mid-range power too.

When I did the Eibach Swap, I took the stock front struts to a local shop to get the springs off. They put my Eibach's on new struts and pulled my old stock springs off the stock struts. Was going to have them put the Eibach's on the old struts, but the passenger side had collected water and the nut had rust/sealed itself to the strut. They had to cut the bolt and rod to get the spring off.

Struts - $85 each = $170
Spring pull and mount - $15 per side = $30
PLus tax
Total was right around $220.

I thought that was a pretty good deal.

because everyone should buy a cam based on how it sounds.

You can make a stock cam "lope" if you set the idle rpm low enough. I never recommend cams with more than 230 intake or exhaust durations on stock cube LS1 engines with GM casting heads, for a daily driver.

Car looks great man! You'll be happy with any of those cams as well. Put some ported 5.3s with it and you'll be good to go.

Thanks Man!! I thought one of those 3 cams would be good enough for what I am trying to build, a 400RWHP daily driver that is reliable and still gets decent gas mileage. I have done a lot of thread searches on this site to narrow it down. It looks between these 3 it is just a personal preference. Still leaning towards Patriot 226, just to be different.

Are you trying to pass emissions with this car or is that a non-factor down there in TX?

Depends on the county you live in, in Texas. My county they can't do sniffer tests due to too much gas in the atmosphere (lots of oil and gas drilling) so they look up at your exhaust and make sure you have 2 Cats and that is about it.

Want to be different? Check out a Lingenfelter GT1-1 cam. My vote goes for the TSP228R though.
