This is true, however, you were on a MAJOR interstate highway as well.

IF the speed limit on that road was "only" 45 mPH it's that speed for a reason.

The DOT sets the speed limits on the roads based on traffic patterns, entrances/exits onto the road and traffic lights.

IMHO 145 in a 70 is SAFER than 145 in a 45.

I'm not condoning that speed, but the less risk the better, and to me, the risk he took was WAY above what justified risk considered smart.

You're lucky he was a cool cop. Judging by your attitude, you're in for a world of hurt in the future. Life is an echo my friend.

same here, i buried the needle ONCE in my car back when i was younger and had a little less sense. i've grown a little older and wiser since then and discovered that i've actually grown attached to breathing. i won't knock the kid for doing it because i've been at that point in my life myself, but dude you really need to realize that one little mistake at that speed can end your life very quickly

You happen to be incorrect.

Your reasoning is also incorret. There is ALWAYS a danger when excessive speed is involved.

Lets say that he's the BEST driver in the world and can "control" The car.

Then....OOPS! THe rear tire blows.

Wonder what would happen to a car going 145 and blows a rear tire....usually results are not very good. Hopefully, only the dumbass going 145 ends up 6 feet under and nobody else ends up dead.

There are always variables when it comes to driving fast, and SOME of those variables are not under control of the driver. This is exacxtly what people do, they think they are "invicible" just because their car CAN go that fast. Lulls you into that false sense of security then BAM!

to me its not the unsafe factor to worry about here, its the constant never ending battle with the law if you continue it as a rutine. i speak from exsperiance here. i dont feel unsafe in any way going that speed or even much higher, i have done it for so long and so much it just feels completely normal to me. its all realitive to your exsperiance level. i have never been caught racing, or really hardly ever got caught doing any of the really dumb insane **** i have done, but get caught when im just cruisin along and forget my speed, it catches up with you sooner or later, and the insurance rates and fines over the years have really kicked me in the *** for all the dumb **** i have done. im not bashing, just giving sound advise from exsperiance, if you dont grow up sometime it will cause you alot of greif for years to come.

arguing with you would be completely useless, you dont have a clue, you havent done it so you dont know what you are talking about, if you were in a curve then a blown rear tire that would suck, but going straight. no biggy, and how often do tires just randomly blow? cant a mechanical failer be dangerous at a normal speed also. we can what if a situation to death it proves nothing IF it didnt happen. what if someone walked in your house and shot you, maybe you should go buy a vest just in case. i know someone who fell and died in the shower, but guess what....... you guessed it. i still take showers. tho it could be hazerdous to my health.lol

one time A cop stopped me on highway exit 175 for doing 110mph he said he had me on radar.. and if I knew what happens when you go over a 100... He was like screaming at me cuz he never actually got out of the car he just followed me and when I got off my exit he cut me off almost running into my car.. he just screamed at me and said that if i had a license... told him yes and he said i better no catch you do it again...but he let me go with just a finger pointting gesture no warning or nothing...

I could be driving 25 mph down the road at night and not see a sink hole and die by landing in that. (Didnt something like this happen over a bridge near Pasadena, TX when some barge struck some of those supports?).

I have a way of throwing things off a topic dont I? But really, think about it.

The road he was on is a flat two lane farm to farm strech with good visiblility. When I used to travel it daily I usually did 80-100 in a Ford Granada (this was about 1989 when I was his age). Though I don't climb around on moving vehicles I usually travel at high speeds and have driven hundreds of miles at or above 100 in my life so I won't give him any grief. I've always treated speed with respect and keep my vehicles in top condition, hopefully he'll do the same. I drive fast vehicles because they're fast, not to look cool. At least he pulled over, I wouldn't have in that instance myself.

G-Nasty was it dark out? How did you zoom past a Constable car doing 145 without seeing him coming out there. Hopefully it was dark and you're not that careless. In any case you should have slowed up as soon as you saw oncoming traffic at those speeds on that road. What if it had been the usual drunk who started turning into you? I've seen cows loose out there, and they weren't diplaying warning lights, something to think about.

From that post my friend I have concluded you are delusioned maybe 1 out of 3 things:

1) You have seen too many Dukes of Hazzard reruns when they are jumping that bridge.

2) You have seen too many Smokey and the Bandit reruns where he jumps over that bridge (2nd one I think)

3) You have been watching too many Hollywood movies what-so-ever, they dont always land perfectly like it seems!

...and you two guys chill out with the "Mother" cut downs or I'm coming over to each of "Yalls" houses and show you my moobs! Blindness is not fun to live with.
