Which 50" Hdtv Under $1500???
I've looked at a few, my grandmother has a 50" Vizio and its not a bad looking TV... thought about that one since its priced pretty well at $1099, what do you guys think?

I know you said under $1,500, but maybe this can be found somewhere else for a good price? Olevia has a 52" 1080p HDTV for $1,599.99 at Newegg. I've got their 42" (which is only 720p/1080i) and it's quite snazzy. Sucks if you really want to use a universal remote, as it's hit or miss whether or not a remote will work with it, but the picture quality is awesome and the built-in speakers are pretty decent all things considered.
Just gives you some choices. Honestly, if I were you, I might just be tempted to go with whatever is the cheapest.

Save So More Money...
keep saving, i have a 46" Sharp Aquos, i love it.
i looked for months and compared and compared.
Vizio is junk, got a friend who just got one, now he hates it.
LG is also junk.
they have very very poor "black" levels (they look faded)
also a something you may not have considered, a surround sound system.
dont count on a flat panel LCD having great speakers.
hope this helps.

if you can do w/o hanging it on the wall, i just bought a 61" Samsung DLP HDTV for $1499. they have the same picture quality, use less electricity, and last longer, but they are just deeper so you can't hang them on the wall. and of course, they are a LOT cheaper

I like the Samsung TVs also, my dad has one of theirs and its nice. I have a surround sound system now, once I get something I'm going to have a pro come out and set it all up, etc. I'll probably wait for my check from the govt. and throw that on top of the money I have now... that would put me in the $2200 range. What is the difference in LCD and Plasma???

I paid $1400 for my Samsung 56" Slim rear projection DLP. I've yet to see another comparable TV in the price range that has a cleaner picture quality.
I own the calibration DVD for high def TV's and its on Blu Ray.

I have a 50" LED DLP Samsung, almost the same as Howie's. My friend has the same 56" as Howie and it looks just as good as mine. I paid around $1500 for it last year, they are a bit cheaper now. It has awesome picture, they are cheap, they are remarkably light weight, and they have an enormous amounts of inputs/outputs. My buddy uses the VGA input on the back for his computer. Uses a wireless mouse/keyboard and surfs 'tech on a 56" screen.
I always tell people that DLP is the only way to go unless you're obsessed with hanging it on the wall. You can't get better picture for the price.
LCD = looks grainy to me
Plasma = too expensive/fragile

We got a 50" Magnavox DLP 1080p for $1250 from best buy, it was the display model, regular price was 2k. This was about a year ago. It works great and looks good too. The BB in pearland always has "open box" specials that are pretty good deals.

that kinda sucks really for having it in a living room or something. we were going to put this one in the living room where we could see it from the hot tub outside or the kitchen like we can our's now.... guess thats out.
