"Mortal self-defense" would classify as injury as well?

If you percieve the threat is there to kill or injure you, shoot the sumbitch.

I think the words "on or about your person" are used. Look it up if you want to be sure, don't just listen to some dudes on the net.

You can carry your gun, loaded in your car. It just has to be concealed and not on YOU. Also, you can only carry in YOUR car. That is my understanding.

Serious bodily injury or threat of life. There are lots of stipulations to receive legislative protection. The basic redundant items are necessity, unwanted(not instigated by you), preventative, and be careful.

Example: Someone is 30 yards away, pulls out a knife, and says something you think sounds like 'kill.'' So you quick draw and put two in his chest. He doesn't retaliate.... or survive. One of them over-penetrates and hurts an innocent bystander. You go to jail because it was not necessary to kill that person at that point, you shot a non-threat, and you owe both parties $$$$$.

I carry a Ruger GP100 (.357 mag) under seat in my truck. (no CHL, so it stays in there)
I personally wouldnt own a Taurus. I have heard alot of bad things about them, some love them, alot hate them. I look at taurus as a budget gun. Yea, they are a little cheaper than other brands, but if my life depends on it, i want quality and i will pay for it. I compare taurus to something like a Kia, or Hundayai.

gp100's run from $375-$450 at gun shows.

Here it is from the texas Penal code

Chapter 46
" (a-1) A person commits an offense if the person
intentionally, knowingly, or recklessly carries on or about his or
her person a handgun in a motor vehicle that is owned by the person
or under the person's control at any time in which:
(1) the handgun is in plain view; or
(2) the person is:
(A) engaged in criminal activity, other than a
Class C misdemeanor that is a violation of a law or ordinance
regulating traffic;
(B) prohibited by law from possessing a firearm;
or
(C) a member of a criminal street gang, as
defined by Section 71.01.

So, as long as your not in a gang, or trafficing drugs, (they would **** you up for that combo) or otherwise prohibited, your good.

Here is the penal code to read for yourself

go to Ch 46, click "unlawful carry of a weapon"

I would go with a S&W airwieght hammer-less .38 j-frame (Also about $430). A .357 is a good round but, in a small frame revolver the gun would jump like hell.And the airweight is light weight and hammerless and can be hidden just about anywhere. Just my .02 cents

CHL applications up 39% according to Houston Chronicle. Regardless, media sucks. Protect your body and mind.
