Default Anyone want to finish the plug/wire change?

My Dad did the driver side, but he's working on some other lady's stupid car instead of mine. Let me know.

Remove your starter, you will no longer hate life. Two bolts, and it makes accessing the plugs 100x easier.

Number 8 is above the starter. Go in from the bottom.

Remove the AIR pipe and the coil packs above the back 2 plugs since you have a 98. Rest your knees on the battery and lean in and try it from the top. Going in from the bottom is way too difficult, looks like you have stock manifolds like me, so do not try from the bottom as many others say. What worked for me was a 1" extension on a standard wrench with the spark plug socket which I bought at Sears. Takes some time but it will be cake once your finish the 1st change!

Are you a big guy or something. I just did mine today from the top, it took about 45 minutes. I take the coils off the pass side and reach it all from the top. The bottom might be easier but the top is not that bad.

dont remind me lol. i have to pop my valve cover to access mine from the top. i see it as a small compromise to not have to work on a lt1 motor.

Assuming he has stock headers, going from the bottom in a 1998 LS1 is damn near impossible. Just get on top of the battery, lay across the engine and reach as far as you could.

I didn't think about stock manifolds. Mine don't look "too" bad, but then again I will be removing the coils and I don't have EGR or air pipes in my way.

My Dad is the mechanic. lol. Taking off the AIR pipe and back two coil packs seems the easiest. He has plenty of long extensions which should make the job easier.

u should have deleted the egr and air by now
remove coil packs and egr tubes, a 3/4 wrench with a spark plug socket is all i use to remove the plugs, lt, stock manifolds, st, it dont matter
use a 1 3/8 freeze plug to the egr hole in the intake manifold and delete the egr system while ur at it.
ive never had to go under and remove the starter to get to number 8
it took me a bout 5 min. to figure out to take off the coil brackets, first time out chaging plugs
