I would NEVER suggest getting out of the vehicle unless the officer specifically instructs you to do so.

Same here, but I wouldn't go reaching into my pockets or anything. Have the bottle in plain sight and do it without acting all froggy.

if you are over 21 and not legally drunk nothing will happpen to you...but might get a citation for an open alcoholic beverage... depends on the cop if he wants to deal with all that paper work also

Open container is just a citation anyway, no paperwork involved to speak of.

I wouldn't either. But if I was drunk and knew I was going to get nailed on a DWI..I'd seriously consider it. I was a cop for 5 years and didn't like people getting out of the car.

I'm on the civillian side. Work for Red River Army Depot in Texarkana..volunteered to go over for a year and work on MRAPs. The new up-armored Mine Resistant Ambush Protected vehicles that are to protect the soldiers from all the damn IED's on the roads.

IM A RETIRED 21 YR COP I SORTA SHORTENED THE PC FOR THE UN COP FOLKS.... THE STEPS I STATED ARE FOLLOWED BY MOST COPS, pc ON A DUI/DWI IS NOT COMPLICATED.... THOUGH AS A STREET COP WE DIDNT HAVE TIME TO MESS WITH DWIS TOO MANY OTHER CALLS TO SPEND ALL NIGHT ON 1 CHARGE JUST TO SEE IT BARGAINED DOWN TO A PI GL WITH THOSE MRAPS WE NEED EM!!
