Default Cat or no Cats?

Thinking between going with an Off road Y pipe or going with the catted route on my 99 Formula. So what I'm wondering what would be the big problem with going with a Pacesetters ORY ? Would there be a big difference in sound and would it be enough to draw attention from the police?

You can tell when a car is not running catalytic converters by both the sound and smell. I've never had a problem with the cops. I'm sure most of them wouldn't know the difference, some do though. With that said, go cat-less. Although, high-flow catalytics really don't rob that much horsepower.

Not necessarily. I've seen some that smelled a LOT and some that you couldn't tell was running W/O cats.

Just get high-flows. You'll be completely legal, not have to worry about Johnny Law, etc. Like someone said, it's just a handful of horsepower.

Cats if you want to pass an inspection test and not have to worry about the additional warning/ticket you'll get without it. No cats for flow and for just being that much better on the streets. I have true duals, it's loud mean and smells terrible every time i'm driving with the windows down. if your pipes are out the back i can't see that it would be a major issue however i was told "it's easy to get an inspection sticker in texas" yet everywhere i've been has strict inspection requirements now due to the GLOBAL WARMING THAT IS ABOUT TO KILL US ALL. CONSUME EVERYTHING YOU CAN AND SPEND BILLIONS OF TAX DOLLARS ON USELESS RESEARCH DEVELOPMENT!

back in the day i had high flow cats and borla. it was too quiet and i ran around w/ a cutout.

i then remove the cats. didn't pick up any HP but i did pick up 21 ft/lbs of tq.

BUT then the car was NASCAR loud. i capped the cutout and ran through the borla to calm it down.

Doin' it daily without 'em. No big deal and its only slightly louder than before. Inspection is a cinch if you ask around with local members for a "homeboy helper". I love the difference in performance/sound. With a cat-back you won't regret it!
