just curious because i am lookin at buying a camaro z28 2002 and on kelly blue book it asks me if it is a 35th anniversary z28 or just a z28 ...value is about 1,200 more for the 35 anniversary ...is there really that much of a difference

This is a trick a lot of scumbag car dealers use.
Do the math: First camaro 1967, last camaro 2002. 2002-1967= 35
So EVERY 2002 camaro has a 35th anniversary plaque on the interior by the ASR switch.
The only exception is the 35th anniversary SPECIAL EDITION SS and they are ALL red with silver stripes.
They (for some reason) are worth more.

The run of the mill 02 cars are not 35th anniversary editions. They all just got the plaque celebrating the cars 30th anniversary.

They're worth more because it's a numbered car that is the actual 35th anniversary package. Same goes with any special anniversary edition that GM has done.

The problem is you see these cars advertised everywhere as 35th anniversary edition camaro!
And it's a freaking green V6 or something.
Then the unknowing customer goes home and looks it up on KBB and it has a place where you select 35th anniversary, unknowing customer seen the plaque on the dash and got the **** talk from the dealer so they click on that option and the KBB price comes up way high.

you're right, what they're doing is playing on peoples' naivity. 2002 was the 35th anniv. of the camaro, so they all got 35th badging, even the v6's. if you recall, GM did this every year, on the 30th, the 25th, etc. but there was always that one SE every year that was worth more. it's buyer beware, as usual - they're taking something that's true and bending the truth a little bit to try and get you to spend more on it
Lucky the buyer is a member here and probably knows.
I just went to KBB.com and you can select 35th anniversary, non SS, default options, and the price is over $1000 more than if you don't click the 35th option, and use the same default options. I don't get that, it's wrong and misleading a lot of people.
And to be honest they screwed me on my car with that, thats why it bothers me so bad. I came home and clicked the 35th option and thought wow good price, went back and ended up buying it, from a dealer.

I know with some 97 Z's you could get the 30th anniversary seats... maybe thats the difference. I know I saw some 97 Z's without the embroidered seats and some with (my old one had them). Maybe they did the same thing in 2002.....
