Send me the dims and material specs such as tube size & thickness and the span between the posts and I will run an FEA and tell you the Load it will support. I can also give you the deflection under certian loads if needed Ansys Rocks...

Whoa, you're going to attach a support to the trailer hitch of your SUV? That's gonna look silly when you're out driving around!

(just busting your *****)

All 3x3 14 guage tubing (0.0677 inch 1.72 mm) right now the posts are 24.5 feet apart (width) and 19 feet apart length wise. Cross beam frame is 24.5 x 20. Oh and all four posts are filled with cement inside.

It will be all the same dimensions and specs with the following added. two more posts so length span will 9.5' instead of 19' (filled with cement also) and six angled arm braces 20" down from the cross beam, 60" long and aprox 56.5" in from the posts. Connecting each post with the cross beam right above it.

Ok finished the extra supports. Spent another $150 on some more square tubing and concrete. Wasn't worried about it falling down just didn't like how it was flexin alittle during those 40 mph winds coupler weeks ago. well its won't flex for **** now. Really didn't wanna put the extra posts on the sides but had to if i really wanted to stiffen up the middle. Just gotta finish pacthing up the fence and then its on to extending the drive way.

looks way better! now all you gotta do is start walling yp the sides... a few windows...a door here and there.... some furniture.... lol you know how mexicans roll... we keep adding to the house till it looks like a complex family doubles in size every couple of years lol

but seriously looks alot better with the extra braces.

and your grass loks greener too! the cadzilla is probably killing the grass underneath it but owell lol

Did you consider your relationship with your neighbors before you did this? Be sure they have all noticed your carport by now and tongues are wagging. That will certainly devalue both your home and those located within 6 houses in every direction. You should put a chicken wire fence around it and call it complete.

Just moved in November of 07and had just met two neghbors as of a couple of weeks ago. While building the carport met about 5 more that came by to see the carport cause they liked it and were surprised at how fast i was throwing it up by myself, two of them already asked me if i would build one for them. I don't live in Highland Park, this is Sachse out in the sticks, people aren't all upity round these parts. A street over is a huge ranch with cows and **** on it.

Looks good to me, plus, if you want to take it down in the future it wouldn't be too hard to do

actually the posts are each 3 feet deep in 3 cubic feet of concrete each AND each is also filled to the top with concrete. so they might be a small pain in the *** if i wanted to take them out.
