How would upgrading the suspension and handling not improve the ride quality?

upgrading the suspension MIGHT improve the ride quality.

but that is besides the point. No matter what happens, a F-body will never have nice ride quality.

No. But I want to. I know the upgrades wouldn't match a C5/6's handling, though.

No, it almost always will not. Most springs and other suspension upgrades people make to these cars will stiffen the ride tremendously, thus making them much less comfortable. Think a truck ride vs a Lexus.

My Z51 C6 has a much nicer smoother ride than any FBody I've ever been in, just to give you an example.

What's the difference then? I understand the need for stiffness with acceleration in a unibody frame. I suppose that's the main difference?

The frame, the suspension (IRS vs SRA), weight, ride height, tires and rims all are factors.

build quality, the type of suspension each car has (completely different), the weight

I agree, even the stock Decarbons with stock springs ride bad on roads that aren't glass smooth. Any after market spring and shock set up thats geared towards either handling or drag racing are going to make the car ride pretty rough. I dont think any one in the history of F-bodydom has bought one of these cars because they were impressed with ride quality.

I have Bilstein HD's (the new ones with the SLP valving) and Hotchkis springs and the ride improved over stock. This is even with tubular LCA, LCA relo brackets and an APHB and stiff sidewalled tires (RT-615)

I debated getting a C5 and ditching the Camaro, but it is paid off and I don't care for another payment. Plus C5 parts tend to cost more.
