Default Thinking about a 2007 Silverado

Well, I've had my car for almost two years now and I'm at the point where I have enjoyed it alot but now its not very practicle. I want something with alot more room and so i can haul stuff. I'm thinking of selling it and getting a 2007 2wd/ 4wd, crew cab Silverado (maybe the blueish/green one). I was wondering if anyone in here has one and likes it so far? Ive had a 1999 Silverado ext cab 5.3L and I liked it alot, until I sold it because it was getting old and I wanted to buy a Camaro. Right now the trucks are pretty cheap and I can sell my car (02 SS, 6spd, CME, Hardtop, 78,000 miles) for a decent price and get into a truck for not too too much money.

I just wanted to see who else already has one, what their getting gas mileage wise (2wd/4wd) and how they like it so far.

Lots of guys on here with the new GM trucks. Its a comfy truck, like the looks and the interior. I have the 6.0L and I have had some oil leak issues. Specs in the sig, its rated at 13/18, I average 15 in town, 16.5 on the road. Though lately I have been driving with a lighter foot in town and they I have gotten over 16.

love my truck but wish it had the power of a diesel. 07 crew cab 4wd 6.0 with 33's gas mileage is 11-12 in the city and about 15 on the highway.

You'd love the truck to death but the way gas prices are going I'd try to get something a bit more economical.

well right now the camaro's getting 12mpg (city/hwy mix) and 15/16 hwy only, and I'm mainly doing city driving and need something with more room too. honestly might throw a programmer at it to see if I could get 17 in the city

I was thinking the 5.3 as well instead of the 6.0 and 2wd

With the way gas prices are now, larger GM vehicles are significantly discounted, which makes up for the extra money spent towards gas.

Two ways to look at it.

I'm really not sure, I've done all the regular maintenance, But I live in San Marcos where every things on a hill, and have a heavy foot in this car. When I drive my dads/friends trucks and my old one I usually don't have such a heavy foot though.

I've check out the car, replaced fuel filter, did an injector flush, new air filter, ect.... The only thing I havn't done is seafoam and change the plugs.

I did get 20mph on the hwy for a trip from San Marcos- College station, but only when I do hwy only do i get that.

That sucks. I drove my TA from Houston to Ft Worth this past week and got 26 on the way up there and 23 on the way back and my car makes 458 at the rear wheels all motor. Do you have an A4 or a six speed?

six speed, stock gears, only has a lid and an E-cutout, damn cant believe you got 26, thats pretty badass.

I want more room in the truck too, and I can use it to haul a motorcycle and race car whenever i build it. But I wanted to get a sport bike too and its not very reasonable to have two fast toys. And now's the perfect time to get a truck if there is one

You won't be sorry that you bought a truck but you are going to miss having your car.

I know its not an 07, but my 03 gmc with the 5.3 gets 16-17 city and will do 19-20 on the highway. The 6.0 is a gas hog. My dad has a 06 with the 5.3 and it gets about 1mpg higher city and highway. It has 3.42's and mine has 3.73's. The newer 5.3's get even better then the older ones. I would not get a 6.0.

Two major things to consider. One, the cost of gas and the poor mileage a truck like that is going to get. Two, yeah you can get a fairly decent price on a new truck right now, but the resale is absolutely HORRIBLE on any kind of truck/SUV today. There just isn't much of a market on the resale end for those types of vehicles.

My brother, who is a car fanatic and keeps stuff immaculate, had a very clean '07 red Chevy Silverado he wanted to get rid of. He took it to Car Max and they wouldn't even consider offering him a price for it! Unbelievable. He ended up trading it in at a Toyota dealer and bought a Toyota vehicle while he took a major, major beating on the truck.

He has two good friends, Mr. Gullo, who owns all of the Gullo dealerships, and another GM at a Ford dealer in Boerne, and both have told him that they won't even consider taking trucks on a trade-in basis anymore because they can't get rid of them. That ought to tell you something. Going forward, do yourself a financial favor and buy something that has decent resale value and gets good gas mileage. Gas prices aren't going down. They're only going to keep going up and these gas guzzling vehicles are going to continue to plummet in value like a rock.

I bought a 2007 GMC 4x4 new body style crew and put 20"s on it, I love it it rides better then the TA even handles pretty damn good for a truck 16 city 20 hwy I bought mine to tow my boat. I will most likey keep it till it falls apart
since trucks and Big block powered boats wont be popular with the price of gas.my truck has only 8000 miles on it and I had it 16 months. For business trips I take a Grand prix and leave the wife the truck.
Gas prices stink, one day of boating with the towing fuel can run 200-400.00 depending on how hard you run
the HP500 in the boat

MMiller- I understand the financial decision as far as resale of the truck, but its going to be that way for most all SUV's/Trucks, I also plan on keeping the truck till the 100,000 mile warranty is done. By buying a 2007 truck I will still be in better financial standing than selling the 02 Camaro (depending on if its a collectible), also the fact that I will get more use out of a truck. Gas prices may never go down, but There is always going to be a need for pickup trucks. I think people are in a state of shock because of gas right now and resale is horrible for them.

Playtoy- I am almost certain i will miss my car when I see another F body going down the street, but it doesn't mean I cant get into another one down the road.

I'm not 100% on selling yet though, just gathering my options

The transmission will probably go out within 30,000 miles. 07's have had big issues with trannies, it keeps me busy and it's all covered under the 100k warranty. And once it's fixed it won't mess up again.

Wow. Something doesn't seem right with your car. I got over 27mpg from Dallas to Austin and back in April and I can 20 all day long even with a lot of in town driving.

Have you thought about getting a 2008 model? They have huge rebates right now or you could get 0% financing for up to 72 months on one.

And 1 dollar more per gallon fuel. Drag, I think that he is looking for something way less than 40 grand. If you cant sell it you should part it out, jk man.
