Default Looking For A 383 Builder LT1

who in the houston area sell's 383's preassembled I tried looking thru the sponsors but could'nt come up with anything. I was going to build one myself but i would rather go to a place where there ready to go thanks for any help

i talked to him just tring to figure out my best option was thinking it would be nice just going and picking one up, less headache i guess

You would be Agitated and not Agrivated instead.

there are quite a few people in the area (houston) who have done the swap. they say wiring is hardest but i bet it pays off when you surprise a LS1 ta with a stock looking LT1 car

check out Golen motors for some Pre-Assembled motors, i think they work together with Lloyd Eliot, not sure though.

you can send a LS1 harness to speartech and they will do all the work for you and you can still use all your LT1 gauges if you decide on the LS1 swap.

just keep in mind that those motors on there web sight are fwhp not rwhp. so be sure and subtract about a 15% or so for drivetrain loss. maybe even more.

Any one want to chime in on how much they paid to have there short block built im looking to be in the 400-450HP range

i was looking at the golen motor there in the hood of $5500-$6500 thats for a long block if i have a short block built im going to go with ai heads there @ $2000 so really i just want to see how much i would save and if it would be worth the time

a 408 with some AFR's and a fast 90/90 would be in the neighborhood of 6500-7k

For the money you'll spend on a 383 LT1, you could have a heads/cam LS1 that makes the same power. A used LS1 for about $2000, heads cam package for $2500 and there ya go.

Even a forged 347 or 382 LS1 runs about $6k assembled with good parts and can knock on the 500rwhp door.
