The TX law actually states "A vehicle should have two license plates; one on the front facing foward and one on the rear." Id dig up the law but Im not on my personal computer so I dont have it bookmarked.

Ive been pulled over like 6 times in TX when I was from TN when I was home visiting family bc of no front plate. Just went back there for about 6 days and got followed 3 times but never pulled over.

i was on the way home from houston to san antonio and a state trooper pulled me over for no license plate.. i had it sitting next to my center console. just straight up told the cop that i put a new grill and had no place to put it. he let me off with a warning. so that was cool. i got it sitting on the dash right now though.

Normally its the State Troopers who are such dicks about the front plate law.

I've been pulled over once in 2 1/2 years for no front plate. Cop(Trooper) was ridin in the passing lane going about 15mph under limit, side by side another car to where I couldn't get past. It sorta pissed me off, so I did the dumb thing and got a little too close to the cops bumper, and eventhough it was night he saw no plate and pulled me over. Just a warning.

I now have my front plate on my air dam. As long as you are at least 20ft back you can read it clearly.

what about the people with the plate behind the billet aluminum grille?
also... where can I get one and what would i have to do to put the plate behind it? (my Z is currently missing a grille but has plastic where it should be, as well as plastic bolted in the two holes to either side.

Well, as it states by law, must be legal from 2 and 20 feet, as for the look, i dont mind it but would rathe not have one at all. As for a piece of flying shrapnel, i bend it slightly so it fits pretty tigh, you have to actually pull it out. I have not been fucked with since i put it there, unlike before i have had 2 tickets for no front plate and pulled several times, now, no problem at all.

Please Don't . . . . and its not legal (not saying my way is legal either) the grille is an obstruction.

I have been riding around San Antonio area and so far so good. I do have a fmic so there is no right place for the plate anymore. Oh well they usually give warnings for it; anyway just play stupid and be respectful that usually wrks on anything potentially ticket related.

that's exactly it right there. technically, according to the word of the law it IS legal to have it in your windshield, but that doesn't stop some ******** cop on a powertrip to use his own interpretation of the law to write you a ticket and hassle you anyway
