Your news didnt stop the oil market from basically taking a rock to the bottom of the ocean. The recent run up in prices had literally nothing to do with supply and demand until Ike hit. There was ZERO fundamentals as to why it was really rising unless you count, "well it should be higher." It was 99% speculation and people trying to save money by diving into the commodity markets. Oil should settle back to $60-70 a barrel and maybe even lower if the recession takes on a global look.
OPEC doesnt have much say really especially when Saudi says that they will deny OPEC and export as much oil as they think the market needs.

now would be the perfect time to rid ourselves from opec .our country needs to keep drilling and not worry with opec cause if we stop drilling guess what we are eating out of their hands again . i know people say lets use their oil up . but at what price. beside hugo chavez will only be in control for a few more years and maybe we can work out a deal with the new leader then.goverment has lifted the bans off our coasts i.e. atlantic pacific and eastern gulf .just have the deal with green folks.

With the way the market and the price of oil has been so volatile I don't think there is anyone that could make an accurate prediction of how low it will go or when it will rise.
