Default need help, sandblaster wont pick up media?

so i have this sandblaster
http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/cta...emnumber=93608

and im having problems sandblasting stuff.. its been working great for the past few months and now its iffy.. when i shoot the gun i feel air comming out but there isnt any media feeding through it.. air compressor is good putting out like 14cfm at 90 psi...

checked the gun and hoses for jams, nothing.
check the air hose for leaks, nothing..

i disconnected the hose from the gun that sucks up the media and feels fairly weak... any suggestions?

do you havea good filter for water? sand blasting hates water. make sure the passages are clear for the pickup tube

I am not familiar with your sandblaster, but on mine, I have to adjust my nozzle in or out once in awhile to maximize the suction in the sand hose.

Is there a sand venturi path that back-pressurizes
the sand or is it pure siphon action? I built a good
blaster once out of a used compressor tank and
if I got the biasing of gun and tank-bottom air
right, it would throw real good but siphon alone
was for ****. I also have a can and satchel types
and the satchel is worse for pickup than the can
because of the siphon length.

Could check that there is no obstruction in the
venturi area, the pickup hose fitting / orifice
may be holding a paint flake or something.

Also there's rated CFM, and there's delivered
CFM at the far end of cheap 1/4" hose and a
couple of quick-connects. A big difference. If
you went to (say) garden hose and screw-on,
3/4" pipe fittings, a lot more air might come
out of the venturi nozzle and speed is what
you need to draw up the sand.

I suspect that is a pure siphon style pick up for the media. As mentioned, any moisture in your air will cause problems. I used to put the nozzle on my glove, press the trigger the clear the line. The air has nowhere to go so it blasts everyting out of the pickup tube. Usually it will restart again much better. If it keeps happening, it is moisture.

The media will cut hole[s] in the metal picup tube, after some use.
The media will eat up the internal orfice in the gun. ["Includes gun with ceramic nozzle". Ceramic nozzles are the least durable nozzles. I use carbide]
There are rebuild kits for most guns. These are considered maintenence items. Once the performance on mine goes south, I change the orfice and the nozzle.. Back to performing like it should.
Take a look at the SKATBLAST website.. Good info there.
BTW, I have a filter and press reg on my cabinet, and I use Dupont Starblast for media. Cuts much faster, and lasts longer than either sand, or glas beads.

I have one of those and when it gets damp or sets for awhile I take a rubber dead blow hammer and tap the sides and away it goes.If you've used it alot it could be the tip is wore and needs replaced.

I was having a similar problem with the cabinet we have at my work. What I discovered is I drilled to 1/16 size holes on opposite sides of the siphon hose down right above where it sits in the media. Now it gets air flow vacuum sucking that sand up and I have a smooth steady flow of media
