My first welder....
The Toyota will eventually get a V8 swapped in along with a rearend from a Mustang. Big plans in my head, so it's time to get some practice!
The welder I will be using is a Hobart Handler 187... it was a good deal and hopefully it can handle all I'll need to do.
I just tried out my first weld. It was raining today so I couldn't find any scrap metal...All I had was two exhaust turndowns that I "tried" to weld together. They are stuck, but its the ugliest weld I've ever seen..haha Right now I don't have any gas, so it's just running on fluxcore.
If your doing mild steel you would want to 75/25% gas. That will make it look a whole lot better!
If you need info on gas for welding, do a quick search in "tools" because there was a very good thread posted about types of gases.
Hobart are awesome welders i have two myself the 140 & tigmate. I upgraded the 140 so now it's collecting dust...
Goodluck with the welding and project!

The fumes from welding on galvanized coated materials gives off a deadly gas..Use care.
speeds before writing off flux-cored. I've gotten
some decent looking welds off my cheapo wire box
but there is a definite "sweet spot" to it (even on
clean metal). When you find the magic combo be
sure to make a note.
