Structural Integrity question: trunk

the " trunk "/ where the T-tops go in a 4th Gen F-body, is it a structural strong point? i was toying with the thought of cutting 6" out off the trunk or making it somewhat level with the rear deck lid to create an open space to tuck the rear-mount turbo up and out of the way and further away from the ground

Any of the metal thats above or around the rear suspension components is in fact structural.

Check in the drag racing section. There are alot of people who cut the "T-Top hump" out and just weld in some sheet metal to make the trunk flat like your saying. I don't see how it would loose any integrity as long as you welded new sheet metal in.
