Custom Boom Tube Ideas
Hey i am looking at making some custom boom tubes for my car.
I understand that they are ear-splitting loud, but i am kinda going for that.
I am to cheap to buy $100-$300 boom tube tips, each. So i am going to make some myself. I have all the equipment necessary for this job, and know a fab shop that can get some stuff bent for me. So that is not a restriction.
I was reading and one guy said that get the desired height of the boom tube like 1"-2". And just get a pipe that is 1"-2" and cut it in half. So you have 2 "C"s. Then weld a plate in between them for how ever wide you want the boom tubes. Make dividers, drill holes in them every 3-4 inches. Weld it all together. Get some round to oval tube transitions.
I have a couple other ideas for going about this, but i think some help from LS1tech would help alot! Or if anyone actually has Boom tube tips, maybe shed some light on how they are built?
Thanks alot and if people have pictures, lets see em!

I built some dual side exit tips for a c5 corvette drag car but I bought them from these guys.

They have a ton of stuff not on the site. Also check out muscle motorsports in NC. It is worth it to buy them used and whole. You end up with alot of pipe for a good price. Another option is ebay. These can be bought at nascar auctions for like $20 and people resell them on ebay.
They are very loud but they sound amazing.

Ohh ya good call.. I heard that the sharp angles mess up the flow, but i guess since they are gonna flow pretty good anyways i dont think it would matter to much?? And i like that rectangular shape better then the round sides so i think i will look into that too

Well, they are LOUD!
I heard some the other day and it brings out the "wow" factor ha..
They help flow alot better (right?). And sound pretty good IMHO
But for my project im trying to go as cheap as possible, and a Y-pipe over the axle would still cost a little to much, and dumped before the axle would be fine but i just like the side exhaust boom tube look.

I don't have anything better than that. That build was a real thrash to get done so I didn't stop to take pics. Road race car to drag car. Fully disassembled and rebuilt in less than 2 months. The boom tubes were the thinnest ones I could find. 1" thick and 12" wide and the exit out both sides. They were dual all the way from 1 7/8" kooks headers.
