Default Jack Stand Placement

Does anyone put their jackstand on the front sway bar bushings to hold the car up in the air for any amount of time? I was lookinga t tthat the other night and was wondering if thats a good place to put them or not?

No, I would not put them there. That's just me though.

use the pinch welds on the front and back. However you can put jackstands under the lower control arms if you need to keep the tires at ride height. The lower control arm brackets on the rear axle work good when your doing exhaust or something that requires tires to be at ride hieght there.

I've use the front sway bar mounts on various cars as jack stand points for years w/o problems. Its a solid frame location, gets 'em out at the corners for stability, and out of your way when working on things.

Thanks guys. another place I have thought about putting them is on the rear of thed front subframe, the floorplan and subfram bolt together, but that looks little far back for me. I'll probably use the sway bay mounts as those seem to be a fine place for them.

I do them on the rails inside the control arms (not the outer ones usually) out back, and in the rails upfront. Or on the axle tubes outback. Either way, I don't nascar jack (no subframes, do have a 6-point), I go corner to corner.

Car is very eager to be supported by two points only, so I'm very careful and leave the wheels on anytime I'm not settled on all 4 jackstands.

At the shop we do jackstands on the pinchweld (quite an impression left there!), and the cars have a zillion-point road-race cage, and a plate welded on the underbody to put the jack, jacking one whole side at a time.

I would nascar jack, but I've heard it could bend thigns. Anyone do it?

I was just thinking how high is still safe to lift the car on jack stands. I need 2feet If I have to I will use cement blocks with a piece of wood on it!

Whats the best way to get the whole front end in the air, and then on jackstands? One corner at a time, or jack on the stock K-member and then drop it down on the stands, or corner at a time and put each corner on the stand and then go and do the the other corner?

1... Drive the front onto ramps.
2... Jack up the rear to the full height that you need.
3... Position jackstands under the rear axle or frame rails
4... Jack up the front under the k-member to the full height that you need.
5... Position jackstands under front frame rails.

Good to go! This is what I always do. Putting the front onto ramps first really makes things easier. I also don't have a muffler in the rear, so that makes jacking the rear differential up easier.
