Default Allstar vs Carshopinc lift plate

Who here has first hand experience with either of these plates, or better..experience with both?

Win/Win either way?

I was about to order the Allstar Performance lift plate but was kinda disappointed to see it was only 1/8in thick.

**NOTE**

I know most will say you just use a chain on corner of each head + bolt or use a load leveler. Yeah, yeah,I have used all of those same methods.

I'm using adapter mounts that places the motor 1in back, and its a bitch to attach a chain to the back side of the heads. Ive already had to notch my A/C box to clear the coil pack bracket on the passenger side and a bolt from the chain has already scratched up the paint on the driver side fire wall.

Lift plate in the middle would have saved extra work I now have to clean up.

I've got the allstar plate; looks like the CS is a copy? or vice versa

Using chains is a pita, motor won't sit neutral when lifted/dropped

I've done a few dozen C5 motor swaps this way, prefer dropping the motor out the bottom but that's not always the case with one lift.

Not sure who had theirs out first. Ive known about the CS one for a while now, and just recently learned about the AS one.

I decided to go with a CS one. Ordered it through Ebay and will be here this coming Tuesday.

No dropping motor from the bottom over here though, working on an full framed car.

I know the ultimate lift plate would be to make my own.

but....... cant weld haha. Really need to learn.

Got my carshopinc plate in, ordered through eBay. Definitely happy I went with the CS plate over the 1/8in thick AS one.

I have one that looks like the gold one in the links. I also have another lift plate that is chrome and a little smaller (looks like the old sbc intake lift plates). I wish I could remember the brand but I like it a lot better than the one in the links.

i can weld pretty darn good, but dont have a welder at home.
so...
i got a 3/8 steel plate and 2 sections of 1/4 angle
tapped the plate for 3/8-16 and bolt the angles to center for the hook.
got about 15$ in it. made another for a friend.
ive used it install a iron block/th400 nd iron block/t56 attached together.
i dont have any pics, but should prolly post a few and a basic write up to diy

would anyone with a valley mount LS lift plate be willing to get me some measurements on the valley plate width and length, and hole size and spacing. i don't have an engine yet, but have the materials to make one versus spending 50+ dollars on something i could build in about an hour. i only need the specs from the plate, not the lifting bar since i already have an engine load leveler.
