Mostly for longevity purposes, having to support 25 lb turbos on violent 4 cylinders with solid mounts. I rarely (if ever actually) have failures.

Refreshing to know you can pump out that nice work on a old machine.

I just used a Miller Syncrowave over the weekend on some 6061 AL that was from the mid 70s according to the owner.

I'm laughing about the smurf blood comment on the stainless!

On the aluminum pic above

What where the setting you tried for each test?
What tungsten and filler on each?
Where you mixing any helium?

Your welds look very nice.

I don't remember all the different setting, but my machine (the htp221) seemed to like 90hz, 65% balance and around 100 amps. I use lanthanted (usually gold colored) tungsten, 3/32", 5356 filler, pure argon, around 20 cfh

Thanks for the info.

I can tig pretty good on steels and stainless. I just can't seem to get my aluminum welds to look professional. Puddle control is fine, I just can't get the weld to look clean and free of contaminants. Using brand new material is not so bad, but it just seems like no matter what I do, I can't get that "sharp" look.

Your welding looks awesome man! I only hope I could become that good of a welder. Your electricity bill pretty crazy with all that welding you do? haha
