Default over 150lbs of torque

What parts on the LS1 need to be torqued over 150lbs?

I know the pulley needs to be 240lbs, but anything else?

You can get the ARP pulley bolt that only needs to be torqued to 110ftlbs. and is re-usable. I don't know anyone that has it, but that's what I've read about them at least.

I thought even with the ARP bolt, you needed to seat the pulley w/ 240 ft/lbs, then install the ARP bolt at 37 ft/lbs. Has anyone here installed their ASP pulley with this method? I'm having one helluva time trying to find a damn TQ wrench that will read 240 ft/lbs. Most only go to 150.

Hrmm yea you prolly have to seat the pulley true. I did it with a tool that is made to do that on the Gen 3 SBC motors. So yea I forgot about that.

Yeah you have to seat the pulley to 240lbs, then torque the bolt down to whatever it is, but 37 sounds correct to me.

I was going to go with a Sears torque wrench that went to 250lbs, but it wasn't in stock, so I just picked up the one that goes to 150.....You can rent a torque wrench that goes to 250 at pep boys, autozone or the other auto parts store, its usually free (just have to put a deposit), so I keep my 150 around for everything else and whenever I need more its off to the store

Yeah, the local Sears here had to order it as well, I couldn't see buying it to use it only once. I already tried to rent one, but no luck. It seems they don't have any that have a higher rating than 150 for rent. I doubt I'd trust a rental anyways... people drop them and aren't careful - that throws off the accuracy. I'm going to TQ it to 150, then use a hefty impact to seat it and hope for the best.

you have to get a 1/2 drive tq wrench for 240. they are not expensive at like orileys. you will use it for lots of stuff. and the proper final torque is 37ftlbs + 120 degrees.

I got yelled at about two years ago for telling folk that the T-T-Y crank pulley bolt is re-usable ....

Now it seems everyone is re-using the old TTY crank pulley bolts....

I assume in another two years everyone will finally realize that all TTY bolts - including head bolts etc,. can be re-used. This has been confirmed by my Chevy dealer who has re-used TTY head bolts for years. I also checked with a licensed engineer who deals with metal issues frequently. He said all bolts stretch and TTY bolts are made of the same steel as other bolts...

..here we go again!!!!! ...don't ever re-use TTY bolts they are designed to stretch only once (UHG!) blah, blah, blah....!!!!

They are made from the same material, yes.
Both are designed to stretch, yes.
On the surface they might look like the same bolt.

But TTY bolts are spec'd to stretch more than conventional bolts.
Conventional bolts are only spec'd to 75% of their yield, where TTY bolts
are spec'd to 100% of their yield. Metal isn't exactly elastic, so they won't go back to their original state.

Sure you can try to reuse them and you might get lucky with the first reuse, but that is why you here people talking about breaking their pulley bolts off in the crank snout.
