LED 8 foot shop lights ?
Anyone using these? My buddy just paid $21 each bulb, for a 4 foot version to go in his shop with 13 foot ceilings. Brighter than the fluorescent bulbs he replaced. I currently have 4 8 foot fixtures in my double car garage. Plan to sell them in craigslist and get 6 fixtures with 1 bulb each. My research shows that when you install one LED bulb it is as bright as 2 glass bulbs. I am getting the 6000K LED version.
Thoughts?

I don't have any experience with the light you linked but I recently built a 24x40 garage with 12 1/2 foot walls I bought 12 of these lights from Sams Club and love them. Very bright even mounted flush to the ceiling. Not quite daylight bright but anyone who visits always comments on them without me having to say anything. They just can't believe how bright it is in my garage. http://www.samsclub.com/sams/4ft-led...rod16460030.ip

For those not wanting to retain the tombstone end pieces and wanting simpler wiring. These are almost plug in units.
These are the brighter 48 watt version. When you buy the, in quantity of ten they are right at $30 each.

Did a little research lately& just bought a dozen of the 4' twin fixtures from sams club posted in the link above. Best deal for the money I've seen yet at 36 bucks each & a very sturdy housing if you want to screw through the side to mount.
As far as bulb replacements, the ones that run with your old ballaste are simple & cheaper, but those that bypass the ballasts are better.
Besides the higher price, I put off buying strip leds for a while because the advertised Lumens output was lower, but apparently its the flourescents that were over rated on output.

I just drove by my local Sonic drive in. I believe they installed all LED in new fixtures and not flourescents. Stupid bright.
Still waiting for my postal delivery. About to pass out holding my breath in anticipation.

50 is only 25 average twin fixtures.
One bad downside to installing my led fixtures at home is now when I walk into my company's shop with the old f96 t-12 cw's is I can't see worth a crap now. Lighting is so dull & dingy looking by comparison coming out of my new setup.
Buying led lights can be addictive.

A buddy of mine just built a 60'X40' shop and installed all ne 4' LED light fixtures. He has 12' ceiling and I swear it looks like daylight in there at night and the meter outside his shop barely even moves. he has 12 four foot lights in his shop and they are bright.
I will be converting my old outdated huge shop lights with the same small thin little bright as hell LED lights very soon. I am a believer.

Yep, 50. I have 24 2 tube fixtures in my shop and front and back sheds. I wanna finally see and have my lights start when the humidity is high. I installed electronic HO fixtures originally and they don't want to start in high humidity conditions.
And yes, the ballasts come out and wire directly to 120 VAC. At least on the tubes I ordered.

I converted all my interior house and outside lights to LED last year. Wally Mart sells screw in bulbs for about $2.44. wife hates the color white color but these look exactly like regular bulbs and use way less energy. I bought 40 of the bright white for outside motion sensor, yard lights. Above driveway is 20 feet up and I am not a fan of heights. The outside ones have lasted about 3 yrs now. They all work great.

The local 7-11 built a new store and went LED lights at the pumps and you could tell right away driving by. They are ALOT brighter than before and adjacent businesses.
I have a LED flashlight fetish. And I'm not ashamed. LOL.

However, in a garage/shop when you don't need shadows that "wasted" light comes in mighty handy.
I have LED lights all throughout my house, nice ones.
I went with T5 fixtures for my shop for a few different reasons.
LED messes with your eyes a little more then florescent + causes harsher shadows. This was my reasoning for not going with them.
The upside is they last a long time and cost nearly nothing running.
The initial startup cost can be high though.
I got 4' 4 bulb T5 fixtures with bulbs for 5$/Ea. also helped my decision.

Side note for Jimbo. I bought two of these flashlights. Best $$ spent on light. Uses laptop style rechargeable batteries.

I have 2 these lights. I plan on getting a few more sets. Turn on full brightness super fast. I couldn't be happier.
Here's some pics of them in my garage.

Haven't got to actually work on the vehicle yet with the 9each 4' twin fixtures in that area alone, but been wondering about the working quality of the lighting. I did however get fixtures with pull chains so that each one can be turned off as wanted. Also, I have several t-8 fixtures next to one side of my parking area & a few others that I may put up over my parking area between the leds.
I want to have enough for painting when needed.
White walls also help to see to work so I may make some white vinyl drop down dividers for my area.
