This one is $559 at Sears - it runs on 120V and welds 5/16??? As far as I can tell, it does not have the gas kit, however. It does have cart, however. I cant tell what the amp rating might be.
Is this a good deal?

According to Sears, this is rated at only 90 amps. Could a 90 amp welder handle 5/16 steel?
Weird; I'm trying to decide on this or a Hobart 130 amp unit that sells for around $500....

It might weld that 5/16 but I bet it will only do it with flux core and it wost likely won't be fun.. Still,,, solid 3/16th-1/4 inch welding from a 120V mig ain't bad. For those prices, you might be able to find a small 220/240V mig that will definitely handle 5/16th.
On the other hand,,,, you might not want to deal with getting a 220V,,, can be a hassle to get power to and how often will you be welding something thicker than 3/16-1/4 inch thick,,, I can't think of anything on a F-Body.
