Default Pocket Knives

Was at the mall yesterday (hey, waay too cold and sloshy to be doing anything else), and I happened to see knives. (not multi-tools, but lightweight, single-large-blade types). I know some people who swear by them, and I always see them clipped on their pocket.

Me, I don't have one, but I'm curious. I hear that once you have one, you don't go back!

Who's got em? What do you use them for?

I just got my first one. It was $50 at Wal Mart. It is a Kershaw Blackout 1550ST with a serrated edge. Spring assisted opening. I love it.

Edit: Oh, I use it at school and quite a bit when working at home.

I have one similar to this (mine doesn't have the metal saw) and I keep it on my belt at all times in a handgun ammo clip. I work on computers for a living, so rather than carry around a screwdriver set, it is VERY handy. Plus, the largest Torx bit fits all the turn and stop signal lamp housings on the Camaro.

i had a little gerber knife that i bought at ten bucks. turns out that the knife sucks for $10 and wound up breaking a little part off that is supposed to hold the blade closed, which didnt at all. should've just spent the extra cash for a good one. oh yeah, i usually use the knife when i work on my car to remove gasket debris and stuff like that.

I have two Spyderco knives, one serrated and one half and half; one for the truck and one for home. They are the best knives I have ever used (including Gerber, Buck, Kershaw, Swiss Army & Colt). They offer free lifetime sharpening, just mail the knife to them and include $ for return postage. They are also ridiculously sharp, so be careful. They come in very handy. Check ebay for good prices on them. Just my 2 cents.

I'm with WOOS1. Buy a Benchmade, it may be a little pricey but its well worth it. I will only carry their knives since my first one. Right now a 9100 auto-stryker is my everyday carrier.

I can't say enough good things about Spyderco. You can pick up a Delica or an Endura with VG10 steel for ~50 bucks and it will last. I want a ParaMilitary for my next EDC.

Good prices at New Graham, www.newgraham.com

My everyday carry is the Buck Rush knife. Clips on your jeans pocket.
With assisted opening, its like a legal switchbalde.
I use it all the time, opening boxes etc.

I use this, I think it looks really nifty. I carry it everywhere, that included high school my senior year and college until I stopped taking classes. I use it at work to open boxes or bags that would be otherwise hard. I tend to play with it a lot though.

I carry this one daily

http://knifecountryusa.com/store/pro...rame-lock.html
liked it so much bought a 2nd one to keep i nthe truck

use it for everthing and feel naked without it, at clubs, court airports ect
Having one is addictive and could get you in trouble but the weight on you hip can be o-so comforting in those could be bad situations.

If you think you might want to stab someone or something? get a pocket knife. But if you want to fix things get a leatherman. A pocket knife is a weapon a leathermans a tool.

I have a little 2&1/2" Buck-style pocket knife that I use every day. Being a plumber, I probably use it most for prying the little caps off faucet handles, tub-shower valve handles, etc. Also great for gasket scraping...I keep it razor sharp w/a little stone that I carry in the Van. Most importantly, my son gave it to me as a gift, so it's always in the left rear pocket of my jeans....when it's there, it's kinda like he's with me...You guys that are Dad's know what I mean.... WJ
