Crane makes an LT1/SBC version of their tool. I have the LS1 tool, and it's very nice.... does 2 springs at a time, and has tons of clearance for the back of the motor. Check out their website.

Crane's is $122, I was hoping to find something a little less expensive.

Tim's tool will work on any small block chevy (and many other makes) as well as the LT1. Just enlarge the stud hole with a drill bit. You may need to use a 3/8 or1/2 drive socket as a spacer between the end of the tool and the rocker cover rail, but I have used it on many small block Chevy, Ford, and Mopar heads.

The best part is that it only costs $30. You will find Tim's tool to be one of the best tools in your toolbox!
