#8 is very easy to remove from the bottom - even with long tube headers. Just pull the starter out first.
Gen 3 motor cars are the easiest vehicles I have ever worked on in 30 years. I did not expect to ever say that from a GM product!

I saw the indexible one people are referring to, but has anyone tried this one? The addition of the flex head looks like it would be pretty handy.

A Spark pug change takes me 20-25 minutes..all of driver's side and first three of the pass side are done from the top without removing the coil pacs..number 8 is done from the bottom...the only tools used are a swivel head 3\8's ratchet, plug socket, a 1 inch extention, and a 3 inch extention..nothing to it..never have figured out why everyone complains so much about changing plugs on these cars ... and now that I have relocted the coil pacs and removed all the emissions stuff it is even faster ...

I have the Snap-On version in 3/8 drive. It's a nice ratchet and I don't use it much, but when the situation arrises where I need it, I consider it worth the cost. Another cool thing you can do with it is unlock the head after you break the bolt loose, and then you can spin the ratchet around the bolt to work it loose. Comes in handy if there isn't much room to work the ratchet back and forth.

Is everyone who's using the Husky 1/4" version happy with it? That's the only drive size they had at my local HD, but most of my sockets/extensions are 3/8" so I'd prefer to stay with that size if I can. The main use for me is to get to #8 with as little knuckle mashing as possible. Thanks.

Wow! I thought I'd killed another thread.
I ended up with the 1/4", so I bought a 1/4" => 3/8' adapter, a swivel and a 6" extension to go with it. When I'm feeling brave and willing to endure the raging freakin heat in my garage I'll try it out on #8.

I bought a Stanley version of this but it's just too long
and fat in the handle to work out, with the Jet-Hots.
What did work is my trusty old (old!) Craftsman 3/8
with the fine-tooth mechanism, a universal and the
standard 5/8 socket. After getting it free I could finish
with another junk ratchet that I cut down to just a
nub, thumb style. I also tried the grear-wrench and
stubby cut-down 5/8 I got off eBay and that would
not work in the available space either. That's two
tools I bought for no good reason. Heh.
I haven't seen the fine-tooth ratchet style in a long
time. Hope this one doesn't break. Been trying though
for 20+ years.
