Drywall is 4'x8' sheets, and is maybe $5-$10 a sheet, depending on thickness and if it's the water resistant stuff (usually for bathrooms). Fiberglass insulation comes in rolls wide enough to fit between studs (16"?), and like 20' long. Price totally depends on R-value (ie: how well it insulates, mostly a function of thickness). Does it have interior wood framing you can put the drywall on? Or you have to build that, too?

Are you gonna try to insulate and heat the whole 60x40 building? Or build a room inside it, like they do for office space in warehouses? That's a big building, and even if you insulated the entire thing, it would take hours (or days) to bring it up to temperature, unless you heat it all winter.

I'd like to heat the entire building at a moderate temperature, maybe 60 degree's or so. I'm looking like I might use a wood burner, we'll see how it goes

Check out the Garage Journal board. Lots of threads there on both insulation and heating.

http://www.garagejournal.com/forum/index.php?

My steel shop was insulated with much wider rolls - I'd bet they're 4 feet wide. My neighbor's steel shop used the same stuff. No idea on cost though.

Might consider a waste oil heater. Would be a nice way to get rid of those pesky used fluids.

Adrian Foam company in Mich.
Sells huge sheets of foam with laminate backing, any
size or thickness. Fastest and easiest way to do a barn.

for the insulation call a local installer. There price to do the install will be very close to what it will cost you to do it yourself. Also look into doing the spray in foam (like the foam in a can on a bigger scale) I want to say that typical fiberglass has a R value of 3.5 per inch where the spray in is like 7 or 8

As far as drywall use the biggest sheets you can. Straight runs use 12' or 16' sheets this minimizes the amout of seems and that means less plastering and sanding. A 4x8 sheet of 1/2" sheetrock runs about $12 a 12' sheet runs about $18

I used that pink Board style insulation. Helps to keep the heat in when the heat is on.

I had the inside of my barn sprayed with expansion foam and then painted it white.

You can get drywall in 4x8, 4x10, 4x12, and I think 4x14 sheets. Depends on how srong you are feeling. Figure on about 10 bucks a sheet for a 4x10 sheet. I dont know what the others cost. Im putting osb on my walls, then Im just going to paint it white. Reason being is when you want to hang little stuff you dont always have to hit a stud.
