Machinist needed...rocker bolt angle?
Machinist needed...rocker bolt angle? I need to know the angle of the rocker arm bolt. These bolt holes were stripped and heli coils were installed but were installed incorrectly. The holes are now larger than a heli coil can be offered and I am going to make some sleeves for the holes. All i need is the correct angle for the bolt hole and which way in reference the angle is. Thanks

well we thought about that, but the problem is findnig the correct original hole and also with it being a cast aluminum the weld could eventually crack from the heat cycles. The holes are 90 degrees from the flat tab they are drilled in but I was hoping to find the angle of the hole as if the head was placed on a flat surface, such as a mill table. This way all I have to do is set the angle of the head and go at it. Anyways Brian Tooley from TEA gave me a solution they always go with so I am going to go with that. Im going to be installing some sleeves since the holes are as large as they are. Thanks for the advice. Many thanks to Brian Tooley at Total Engine Airflow for his help and advice! When you lay the head on the mill table, shim one side up until the flat surface around the bolt hole indicates zero on a dial indicator mounted in the mill chuck.
Then clamp the head down to the mill table and drill and tap it. It won't move if you clamp it down.

yup, thats my plan, i'll probably set up some parallels around the head to clamp it down once i shim it and zero it out. thanks for the input
