Looking to buy my first tig welder mainly for home/hobby and minor fabrication work.
I noticed the Maxstar 150 is DC only so aluminum is out of the question.
The Syncro wave is ac/dc.
Both say they have fingertip control.
Any input?
Don't know if i'll ever weld aluminum is $400 worth it?

Honestly, if the tig is your only welder and you think you may want to weld aluminum some time, then you will need A/C. However, the maxtar is only 160 amps, and the econotig is lower amps as well, I forget how much exactly. So with a smaller unit like that, you are going to be restricted to small gauge aluminum or sheeting anyways. My suggestion, unless you want portability, look for a little older 220v unit that has more amperage. Dont let a 10 year old unit scare you if its been maintained well. My ideal arc/tig 350 is about 15 years old and does better than my nearly new syncrowave 250.
